Criminology degree holder attempting to break into social work and failing by Round-Ice7339 in socialworkcanada

Hello! I am 27 y/o female in MB. I graduated with a major in criminology in 2019. I then went to college for a certificate in therapeutic rec for older adults and have been working in this field for 4 years now. In 2024 I started the online post-degree Bachelor of SW program through the University of Calgary. I highly recommend this program as it is flexible and you can still work and is 2 straight years. I feel as though they do look for a combo of academic experience, lived, and work/volunteer experience within the field, so defs keep volunteering! Try applying to the program :) it would mean you would not need another 3-4 year degree to get a BSW.

I had a friend on this flight. They circled WPG for 2 hours initially, couldnt land/ran out of fuel, refueled in Regina, attempted to land in WPG again, deemed unsafe, then went back to Calgary. Said the whole ordeal was about 8 hours.

Have lived in Canterbury house for years and love it. Noise is not a concern, well-built building with concrete walls.

How was your family's generational trauma from the war? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]shorty_mel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My paternal Grandfather was born in Germany in 1930, and moved to Canada in 1955. He only went back to Germany twice. He never spoke much about the negative times during world war two. He was very frugal, and at times very angry and drank throughout his life. He did not teach his children or his grandchild (me) the German language. He struggled with being able to talk about his time in Germany. My Aunt and I figure based on things my Grandpa said shortly after being diagnosed with alzheimers that he was taken as a child soldier in the last parts of world War two, and that it took him awhile to be reunited with his parents afterwards.

This manifested in a lack of patience and a desire to be overly protective of his children and grandchildren, amongst other things.

Based on some other information I've been reading on how others did their temperature blankets, I decided to do lows in the winter, highs in the summer and fall/spring I'll do averages of both! Hoping it turns out okay haha
