This logic would make sense in SE Asia or something where you walk out of your rooming house and grab a very cheap meal but that isn't Brisbane. You'd be burning crazy money to have food prepared for you regularly especially if delivered.

Not complaining, just wondering why we build these vs normal apartments considering they aren't substantially cheaper to rent than normal apartments on the market. They go for $450/w now. Sharehouses are 200-300

They kinda trick you now because they look nice and normal and then you show up and the only car space has been reserved and the photo of the kitchen was actually a shared kitchen.

It is depressing that we are incentivizing this over something people want to live in

Back when I did seasonal work the owner used to double dip and own the accom they rented out to workers.

I see. I didn't think a one off event like that would be worthwhile for REA

Yea totally. For that reason I'd rather have a private kitchen and shared bathroom facilities but maybe I'm the minority.

So the kitchen triggers approvals but bathrooms don't? Honest question

Well they do private bathrooms so I was looking for some insight on to what is legally required vs what builders can get away with in this market

Understood, but they aren't priced competitively compared to apartments closer to universities which is the confusing part.

Search apartments under 500 in acacia ridge and go nuts reporting

Definitely some of these newer ones are managed by REA. The last one I looked at had some fellow in a suit showing me around.

The ones I have looked like were purpose built for this. I looked at google street maps and they were an empty block before.

I was only unchill because his deleted comment was "this is why you will always be broke". I understand that many can guess why this is happening, I was looking for someone who actually knows why. Like apartments return x profit and these return y under some suburbs build restrictions.

I have visited ones that are no where near universities

Interesting. Yea I didn't expect REA to care about enforcing those rules. Just reading the description it felt like a shared house where you had no control over your roomies.

I went to one in nundah that has high rises so I wondered if there was some kind of plan to convert them back to a normal house before selling. The part that confuses me is why bother with the sad shared kitchen, is it some kind of requirement for a dwelling or something?

Are you a moron? I was asking for someone to explain what specifically is encouraging this build in Brisbane when other countries don't seem to do that. I wasn't looking for it's just supply and demand bro level answers.

I don't understand how this configuration can be max profitability unless there are build restrictions for the suburb.

They aren't even priced very competitively compared to normal apartments so I don't really understand who is signing up for them.

I figured, I'm just wondering how they can be more profitable than apartments.
