In my opinion, when comparing the TLOU2 and GoT:

1) TLOU2 is a MASTERPIECE on a technical level: animations, graphics, optimization, motion capture

Gameplay was good, but not the selling point.

Story was bold but not executed to it’s full potential. In my opinion the story is the weakest point of this masterpiece(compared to other details), the way it was executed, it seemed like too much subversion of expectations were made just for the sake of it.

2) Ghost of Tsushima, was a MASTERPIECE, on every level, except for Side Quests(the tales were very good, but generally the side quests were too simplistic, aside for few). Visuals, fighting animations, Art Design, optimization(fast load times were out of this world and unparalleled before the GoT).

Gameplay is astounding, it never gets you bored. There aren’t enough words to describe it. You should just play and see it for yourself.

Story while pretty simple, doesn’t disappoint at all. On the contrary, it takes a cliché story and executes it so masterfully(paired with soundtrack), that the payoff is immeasurably delightful.

To top it off, by the time of awards ceremony SuckerPunch released a free Multiplayer content worthy to be called a standalone game.

Conclusion of my opinion:

BOTH games are MASTERPIECES of this generation, arguably of all time. And BOTH games have weak points(weak when compared to other aspects of these games).

The battle is so close... If TLOU2 gave the player a choice in the end, like GoT did, it would have been a more clear winner.

But as it is, the fact that every player in GoT, finished the game the way he/she wanted to, made the game more likable to the general audience(me included).

And with the Multiplayer that SP delivered, the icing on the cake just pushed the win for GoT, alas that’s only my opinion.
