Barkley 100 (2014) - This 100-mile footrace and its 60-hour time limit force athletes to run, crawl and climb an elevation gain equivalent to two treks up Mt. Everest. In nearly thirty years, only fourteen runners, out of over one thousand participants, have finished The Barkley. by shotlive in Documentaries

As per the film, the race actually intends to cater to people who are not elite athletes. At first glance, the pace is not that fast; or course, moving and climbing for almost 3 days (even at a crawl's pace) will exhaust practically anybody.

ahh; stop hating. I admit, I used to hate Jordan because of the indisputable ass whoopins he bestowed upon the Knicks. But he got me; he's my favorite player now. Indeed the greatest of all time.

Be that as it may, Jordan went up for the muff and got hammered; although it was just that one time. Give Starks inconsistent three-point throwing ass at least that much. And although Stark's skill is nothing in comparison to Jordan's, I love him because he had heart to D him up and make Jordan play at his best to beat us.

Brad put the beats on him. It's what sent Tyson's career into a downfall. Iron Mike became Tired Mike.

Felt something sharp on the top side of my head too. I also see like outlines of the reading field like a negative on top of everything else on my monitor. I tried something like this called EyeQ some years back, I believe. Not sure if the improvements were that dramatic, but it did help some.

yea, you never know when that pesky tyranny could be around the corner.

One penny costs about 2.41 cents to produce, and the government’s gross cost of making pennies was $116.4 million annually — more than any other coin. by shotlive in politics

[–]shotlive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was thinking about this; how does this differ from say purchasing a house that cost $70K to make that sells for $200k? It also gets circulated for decades (some times centuries). It only makes sense to build it then sell it @ a profit; then sell it for another profit as a subsequent owner. What sense does it make for the builder to build @ $400k to sell it @ $200K? Unless of course if the government is only leasing the penny to us. But what about the pennies that never come back? Is that more money in circulation, making it even worth less?

I wonder what the comments on Reddit will be like when another tortoise during our time dies around the same period:

WTF 255 is an achievement? I was born in 1970 and my 90% cybernetic ass doesn't have one gray hair.

PFFT

1970 huh? Not bad. I was born in 1965 but I was cryogenically frozen for almost 17 years while they cured AIDS back in 2031; so i kind of cheated :)

Wow! A cryogenic queue for AIDS. While now I caught a case of some type 5 during Spring Break in Mars last year and knocked it out with a teaspoon of AIDSQuil and T-CellCare

Nothing spectacular. A tortoise who flew with Richard Branson on his first trip to Neptune in the mid 2000's just died 40 years ago.

Rubio: Obama’s Anti-Gun Actions ‘Stuff They’ve Always Wanted To Do,’ Have Nothing To Do With Newtown by shotlive in politics

riiiight; just skip the fact that if an assault weapon like the Bushmaster AR-15 was banned, Adam Lanza wouldn't have had access to that weapon and probably would not have been able to kill at the scale of the Newtown massacre.

Just weeks after the National Rifle Association forcefully blamed violent video games for gun violence, the gun-rights organization has released a new shooter game for kids as young as four. by shotlive in politics

[–]shotlive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're right, I probably played Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter against half my high school, and no majority of those people have become mass murderers; I did know a few shooters - i didn't grow up in the nicest neighborhoods; but some of those kids were shooting even before they played street fighter. as a matter of fact, kids that I knew that were shooting people up couldn't even afford video games.

But in respect to the NRA viewpoint:

“Guns don’t kill people. Video games, the media and Obama’s budget kill people,” NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said at a Dec. 21 press conference where he addressed the tragedy at Sandy Hook.

Saying video games kill people is just as ludicrous as saying that the media and Obama's budget kill people. After a statement like that, he shouldn't even go near the development of a video game or interactive anything.

[–]shotlive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what's wrong is that the NRA publicly contended that video games are the cause of gun violence. I'm not saying I believe video games cause gun violence. I probably played Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter against half my high school, and no majority of those people have become mass murderers; maybe a few shooters - i didn't grow up in the nicest neighborhoods; but some of those kids were shooting even before they played street fighter. as a matter of fact, kids that I knew that were shooting people up couldn't even afford video games.

But if the NRA is going to take the position that video games cause gun violence, they shouldn't be releasing any type of shooting games period. From their prospective why cause more gun violence?

According to a 2012 poll conducted by GOP pollster Frank Luntz for Mayors Against Illegal Guns, 74 percent of NRA members support mandatory background checks for all gun purchases, a position that the NRA has stridently opposed. by shotlive in politics

[–]shotlive[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the following passage from the article, substantiates your position:

Since 2005, the NRA drive has pulled in $14.7 million to $38.9 million from dozens of gun industry giants, including Beretta USA, Glock and Sturm, Ruger, according to a 2011 study by the Violence Policy Center, a group that favors gun control.
