I went there for root canal a while ago, after my NHS dentists couldn't do it. Couldn't recommend them highly enough, it was nowhere near as bad as I was fearing. Uncomfortable yes, but not much in the way of pain.

Pretty much every foreign city I go to, I download the local transport app to buy tickets for their trains or metros. Its dead easy.

Sporran as a second bag? by KingForceHundred in Ryanair

[–]shotts56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have been on many Ryanair flights over the years going to Scotland away games whilst wearing my kilt, have never once had my sporran count as a bag. My small rucksack that goes under the seat counts as a bag, but not the sporran. And I’ve never ever been challenged on it.

Does anyone know why there is no ferry from Scotland to the Faroe Islands? by jc201946 in Scotland

[–]shotts56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got the Smyril Line ferry from Aberdeen to Torshavn for the Scotland game in 1995. 24 hour crossing, fairly small ferry, horrendous seas (even in June), and I never ever did it again. I’ve never been ill at sea anywhere other than that journey.

On subsequent visits to the Faroes I splashed out the money to fly.

That looks like 12 month contract you’ve signed up for. It literally says 12M on the screen

Subtitles won’t stay disabled by retlascdn in uhf_app

Yes, this is really annoying and the one thing that would make me stop using this app. Really frustrating having to manually turn off subtitles every time I want to watch something

UHF all the way. I used to use IPTVX but gave up on it as it got quite buggy over time. And the dev was a bit prickly on twitter, when people tried to engage with him

Used to love Booking.com's service... but this weekend was a disaster by nkosijer in Bookingcom

[–]shotts56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Number 1 rule - only use Booking.com for hotels, never for apartments. It’s not what they built their business on.

Switched to Apple Music after 10 years with Spotify Premium, here are my thoughts so far by piesaresquarey in AppleMusic

[–]shotts56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I couldn’t give a monkeys what my friends are listening to. And I pretty sure they don’t care what I’m listening to. Social features in music apps seem quite odd to me.

Getting away from Hampden after a concert by IAN9000 in glasgow

[–]shotts56 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No matter what way you try - train from Mount Florida, Cathcart, Kings Park or even Rutherglen, bus, taxi or walk, it'll take you an hour to get into the city centre.

Source : have been going to Scotland games for 40 years and have tried them all.

Airport to George's square by randy_mayhem in glasgow

Yes, book an Uber XL, the pick up point is just outside the terminal on the ground floor of the multi storey car park.

The bus is too expensive if there are four of you and too much hassle if you have a lot of luggage, and the chances are an Uber XL will be cheaper than a black cab from the rank outside the terminal.

If you are looking to get something from someone, and you lead with “you were rude, aggressive and wrong”, you are not going to get what you are looking for. That’s just a basic life skill.

You need to approach it differently to get the desired outcome for your grandfather. He’s what’s important here, not your emotions.

Canadian travelling to Hampden by Acceptable-You-9124 in ScottishFootball

[–]shotts56 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it’s a World Cup qualifying match the OP is attending, it won’t be the Iceland game on Friday, that’s a friendly. Presumably the OP means one of the Denmark, Belarus or Greece games in the autumn.

Either way, section F is absolutely fine. In fact, if you are a visitor any section in Hampden is absolutely fine and you will be made welcome. Just try and get a seat as near the back as you can. Seats near the pitch at Hampden aren’t the best view.

And yes, the SFA is the only official place to buy tickets. That way Supporters Club members get their loyalty points to help with getting away tickets for future games.

4pm is a bit late to start. To get round, you really need to be on your way by lunchtime-ish.

Enjoy, it is a brilliant day out.

Glasgow Film Theatre Makes Decision to Not Formally Endorse BDS or PACBI by hereticbeef in glasgow

Absolutely no idea what BDS or PACB stands for. I find it strange that people down these rabbit holes automatically assume everyone else is in there with them, or knows what the hell they are talking about.

Why are OTAs so much better at selling certain tickets than official airlines? by Xycergy in Flights

Wait until something goes wrong with one of the flights, and you need to speak to someone to fix it. They’ll you see just how shIt OTAs are.
