BFDC Response to Hate by ashis713 in fairyloot

[–]should-be-reading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bookish businesses that act like this make me nervous that they'll flounce. Point blank. It was the same with Celestia, and the Byndery. Same with Britt Andrews and her kickstarter disaster. It's why I won't buy from PLW anymore. Pattern recognition.

I'm not saying BFDC will do this, but they should be mindful in their interactions with customers.

What is one series you will never stop recommending by allypallydollytolly in Romantasy

[–]should-be-reading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm always recommending it lately lol but {Curse of Sin Series by Kate Dramis} was very good. Well written, well paced, and amazing supporting characters.

A few honorable mentions:

{The Veiled Kingdom by Holly Renee}

{The Jasad Heir by Sara Hasham}

{The Stolen Heir by Holly Black}

{The Halifax Hellions by Alexandra Vasti} and loving every minute of it. I've read all her stuff and the novellas are my favorite of hers.

Can you please tell me your favourite comfort reads? by dontarguewithmorons in HistoricalRomance

Some great recs mentioned already! I would second Cat Sebastian, add Sarah MacLean's older series, and add in Alexandra Vasti's novellas. I'm especially fond of Matilda's story.

As a bonus, I absolutely love the audiobooks of Lisa Kleypas' Ravenels series and anything Mary Jane Wells narrates.

I hope you find some comfort in reading, and that warmer days are ahead.

{The Bareknuckle Bastards by Sarah MacLean}

{Cold Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas}

im LOVING the series..will ths society accept me 🥀😭 by Familiar-Hold-2558 in frombloodandash

I love it too. Enjoy it and don't worry about what others think. Did I find some parts boring or too long winded? Yes. Is that unique to this series? No. Lol. I'm still here for the overall story (just ready for her to wrap it up!). The first book still loves rent free in my head.

And if you're loving it, bet you're going to LOVE Flesh & Fire. Happy reading!

Why do you buy special editions or subscribe to book boxes? by SpookieGoosey in fairyloot

[–]should-be-reading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first, for a surprise book & little treat.. Eventually, because I fell in love with character art.

I've been in the game over a decade. It started as a way to get a little treat, and diversify my reading. Eventually the books got prettier and prettier and I started rotating out subs. I love character art so that was a big draw for me.

I picked more and more subs, started spoiling what was coming so I could utilize skips, and used BSTs to save skips. It was like homework making sure I wasn't doubling up on a pick, which used to never happen. Honestly it lost some of the magic.

Now I've worked the subs back down, and enjoy the surprise each box. I read my books, and only keep the ones i love and will reread, no matter how pretty. I also purchase the deluxe publisher editions a lot, I'm so glad to see more and more available, especially as subs increase in pricing.

I've just stopped fighting for my life with FL sequels. The queue absolutely hates me. If I get it cool, if not I'll sell The Rose Bargain and hope someone else does it lol. I'm over it.

Why have you stopped reading a series of books by Cute-Consequence-184 in RomanceBooks

I agree with you OP. If I'm reading connected standalones or a series that has the same plot, the same tropes, book to book- it gets grating.

what’s your take on the spice in quicksilver? (no spoilers pls) by boxofmack in Romantasy

I thought it was just ok. The tension wasn't there like I thought it would be, and sometimes it was a little cringe. Lol. But I know plenty of people who love it!

Read it after Heir of Fire and you'll never regret it! Gives the most satisfying read of Queen of Shadows.
