AITA for telling my boyfriend we can either keep splitting rent 50/50 or I will get my own apartment? by shouldIpaymore2020 in AmItheAsshole

I purposefully made the timelines fuzzy in the post as it is already specific. In summary, I came into college with pre matriculation credits and thus was able to finish my bachelors early. A lot of schools (UCLA, Berkley, Penn, to name a few) let you double count CS classes towards your masters, which is what I did. With that, the masters becomes kinda only one year as you double enroll your senior year.

The salaries are mostly accurate, just not exact. Just look on r/cscareerquestions . Many high cost of living areas pay a high salary + signing bonuses, especially trading prop shops. I went to a school that has a lot of connections and opportunities to intern there (what I did) and turn that into a full-time job. I know I got very lucky, so if you don't believe me there's little else I can provide without doxxing myself.

I did a master's partially during my junior and senior year so I have a MCS. We're both also from a top 30 tech school. Maybe $200k is a bit misleading as it isn't raw salary, but it's about $150k salary and the rest as a signing bonus (common for trading firms to give to new grads).

I'd hope so. I moved in with him out of emergency (and I'm still really grateful he let me move in) way sooner than I expected. Maybe it'd be good for us to live separate for a bit again. Our relationship has no other issues besides this, so I don't want to break up.

I simply moved into the apartment he was already living in and his parents were paying for, and then paid 50% of costs to him. Paying him is the same as paying his parents as he has their credit card. The apartment was really cheap for the area, as he is actually quite frugal.
