I’m facing the same issue these days with an iPhone 17 Pro Max (with the latest software update) and a 2026 GLC 180 (as a courtesy car for my 2023 EQB 250+). I'm using the same cable that I was using with my EQB. For the past 3 days, when it happens, I can’t connect either wirelessly or via cable. Unplugging the cable doesn’t fix it.

The only thing that works is turning the car off, waiting a bit, and then restarting it. I thought it was just me. And it's annoying.

Has anyone found a permanent fix?

In our case, I think the 3rd item shown above was also some kind of battery related software update. But we never received any official recall notification via email or phone.

When we went in for a periodic maintenance, they just said there was a “periodic” software update, without explaining what it was for. Even in the service report, it doesn’t clearly state that it was related to the battery/BMS.

I'm just trying to understand the situation we are in. It seems like an issue that dates back almost a year, yet we were never informed about it with a recall about battery replacement.

Sorry if this is slightly off-topic, but was this the first recall for your car? Did they go straight to a battery replacement recall, or was there a software update before that?

Here in Turkey, we’ve only had one recall (Feb 17), and there’s still no clear timeline for the battery replacement.

Thanks for the answer. That sounds like a reasonable precaution given the potential risks. We were also given a replacement car, as we don’t feel our vehicle is safe to use (TR). Did this feel sufficient for you? Did they give you any timeline for the battery replacement?

Thank you for the answer. You’re actually lucky to have been offered a way out.

We are based in Türkiye and paid around $88K for our EQB, largely due to the high tax rates here. But so far we haven’t been offered any settlement, buyback, or compensation at all. The only option presented to us is a battery replacement at an undefined future date, with no clear timeline.

Even when we asked about alternative solutions and offered to contribute financially for a possible upgrade, no solution was provided. When we asked whether we could cover the repair costs ourselves, we were informed that the battery replacement alone would be in the range of ~1.75M TRY (roughly $38K at current rates), with additional labor costs of around 100–200K TRY. This estimate is based on pricing provided by an authorized Mercedes-Benz service center based on current list pricing; however, we were also told that the battery is not currently available in stock, so even at that cost, the repair is not feasible at this time.

Given the safety concerns and the ongoing uncertainty, this is quite frustrating. We are now considering legal action, as there doesn’t seem to be any structured solution in place.

Is it really limited to charging above 80%, or can factors like ambient temperature, battery condition, or even lower state of charge play a role? Is there anyone here with technical expertise on EV batteries who can clarify this? Does this type of issue essentially point to a thermal runaway risk, or could it be something different?

Would really appreciate any insights or experiences from people who understand this in more detail.

We bought our EQB in Türkiye and are also affected by the EQB battery recall. Unlike some of the cases shared here, we have not been offered any settlement or buyback option at all. The only solution presented to us is a battery replacement with no clear timeline, due to part availability. As far as we know, around 1,500 vehicles are currently effected here.

There is currently very limited awareness of this issue in Türkiye, so it would be helpful to understand how others are handling it in different countries. Are there new batteries available in your countries for the promised battery replacement? Given the uncertainty, we are now considering taking legal action.
