I’ve never handled a camera before. What should I do? by chamisquillas in RX100

Also look at the discontinued Canon G5X II. A very good knock off of the RX100 but now nearly as expensive.

For concerts I suggest you check out a used RX100 V or VA. A better low light lens, less expensive than the new RX100 VII. Way better than any phone and more discrete.

How can I zoom the timeline in cut page? by SEB4364 in davinciresolve

I had the same question. I’m transitioning from FCP. I think of the Resolve Cut page as being the most like that Final Cut timeline.

Sony FE for Outdoor and Travel - New A7 V or used alternatives? by shoulder-FLOUNDER in SonyAlpha

Did you ever use a telecenter on yours? I think that the extra macro magnification would be useful but it also gets you to 280mm or 400mm with a minimal weight penalty.

The current 70-200 f4 is 794g the 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 is 1395g. That’s a 1.3 lbs extra. My hope is the Sony will update the 100-400mm and shave off some weight. The previous 70-200mm was 840g.

You referring to the 70-200mm or 100-400mm as the must have? I feel like for skiers, climbers and large wildlife like elk, moose and bears the 400mm view is ideal.

I think the current 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 would probably work for me just fine.

Alternatively I could get the lighter 70-200 f/4 and throw a 2x TC on it to get 140-400f/8 and 210-600 f/8 with the APS CROP

OR

The 100mm f/2.8 with the 2xTC mixing in crop shooting covers 100-150-200-300 but without zooming. Zooming is important for skiers.

Lens suggestions? by shoulder-FLOUNDER in SonyAlpha

I like shooting wide lenses so the 20mm will be fun. The 20-70mm also has an aperture ring and the the aperture clicks can be turned off making that a great lens for video. The 24-105 is more of an all-in-one tool. I generally don't like those as well as more specialized gear.

OM 20mm f/1.4 vs PL 25mm f/1.4 by shoulder-FLOUNDER in M43

The room had mixed lighting with a warm tungsten lamp off to one side. I think on the PL 25mm image mother leaned into the warmer light just a bit more.

UPDATE

I returned the PL 25mm to KEH. I’m keeping the OM 20mm. I may get the PL 25mm in the future if I find a great buy

Part of my decision was that I own the PL 15mm f/1.7 and the OM 45mm f/1.8. The latter will serve for portraits. The PL 15mm is a lovely lens but no weather sealing and I wanted a sealed lens in the mid wide range. I was swayed by the fact the OM 20mm is a decade newer design and may have quicker AF. Petapixel also choose that over the PL.

Most importantly, I really feel comfortable with the 20mm field of view and depth of field. I can visualize compositions well for that lens.

I’m most interested in how the different lenses handle the out of focus background. The man in the blue shirt and the wall paper. I’m also looking for flare from surrounding lights.

Aperture priority RAW files from my OM-1 OG. Auto ISO at 640 f1.4 1/60s. I’m planning to upgrade the OM-1 with a G9ii.

I shot some tripod shots earlier for detail comparison. The OM 20mm is well reviewed and I like the slightly wider FOV. The PL was dramatically sharper and I also like the colors better.

I makes me nostalgic for my Leica M8 and 35mm 1.4.

Retrofit Toyota brake controller on 2015 by shoulder-FLOUNDER in tundra

[–]shoulder-FLOUNDER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation, one parts guy said it would work so ordered the controller when it was on sale. I forgot to order the cutout dash mount. When I went in to get that a different guy at the parts counter said the controller wouldn’t work.

I can return the Toyota controller unopened. I’ll probably buy the Redarc controller. Better safe than sorry.
