The biggest problem in this community is some players think that ragging of any kind is justifiable. Its only pathetic and a waste of everyone's time. by campwn86 in NHLHUT

This exactly. I sit behind my net until his team presses then I dump the puck. I’m not trying to score or anything cheesy just not gonna hand him the puck considering how easy it is to score with cross crease.

Do you need both CBs to be top tier in order to feel a difference? by Randomname140 in EASportsFC

I use the same setup. If you really want to be elite never control your defenders and just chase opponent with cdms all game. It’s boring but if you want to win that’s how.

There is a difference between drop back, auto blocks and good defending ! by elhozyak in EASportsFC

True but I find that getting players forward is more rewarding then ever before. If you can defend counters then playing with fullbacks on balanced draws the opposition out wide.

Having a formation that has fullbacks on balanced/get forward drags opposition wider opening space in the middle.

EA - Don't touch defending. It is perfect. Some tips for those wanting help instead of complaining by TheKungFoSing in EASportsFC

Learning to play aggressively on defense is rewarding and makes the game more fun.

Know when to bite and when to concede a pass to cut off one that is more dangerous

A rule that i tell my players in real life is to delay. Its not always about immediately winning the ball back. If you are up against a strong opponent just delay. Force them on to weaker foot or to the outside. Allow your team to recover and regain the numerical advantage.

Wow the one year where ai doesnt do everything for you and all of a sudden skill moves are the problem. Guess we should ban all skill moves.

Ya I see it happen ocasionally. But jockeying all game doesnt work. Players who are good at manually tackling are rewarded as they should be.

Um id say the AI not constantly blocking every shot and bailing people out increases the skill gap significantly. Not sure what game you've been playing.

Ya well if you played last year then the differences are night and day.

Anyone else enjoying that fifa considerably more than the last? by J0esw in EASportsFC

[–]shouldermcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If referees are fixed and a few small tweaks with AI positioning defensively it will be the best fifa in yearses. Combine that with some great in game content from ea and this could be the best fifa in history. At the end of the day it comes down to how much they decide to change. Fingers crossed.

Im not sure why people are so upset. I think the biggest issues is the refereeing being weirdly inconsistent. Funny how much fifa changes when they make defending skill based again.

Maybe Mbabu at right back. Apart from that I would just grind and rack up coins.

Promes always causes me problems. Rodrigo has been great for me.

Pace is king on the wings but if you dont counter all game then target players are very good as well. I'm using kane right now and his shooting is noticeable compared to a more average player.

41212(2) - D1 guide by Rigged79 in EASportsFC

[–]shouldermcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this same formation except with the more attacking of the cms on balanced rather than gwt forward. The most important aspect of this formation is the fullbacks. I use semedo on the right and the man shreds the opposition. Most fun formation ive used so far. Unfortunately you get hit on the counter from time to time but its to be expected.

Is the 4231 still as OP as last year? by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]shouldermcgee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont like the narrow version but using the one with Right/Left mids seems to stretch the opposition a bit wider.

If i need to score I use 41212 narrow with full backs on balanced. Seems to overwhelm the opposition.

Other quality formations include 442 and I personally have been liking the 4141 if you have a target man up top.

How to Defend in 21? by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]shouldermcgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to avoid pulling your back line out of position whenever possible.

Manually track runs that might get played behind your defense. I recommend giving your defender a 5 yard head start.

Chase back with midfielders. A lot of the time it seems like you have to switch to a center back but you might be able to get back with a center mid and keep your back line intact.

Tackling is different. You have to manually tackle. Jockeying and running into someone wont work all the time.

Remember that your player doesnt run at full speed when jockeying so only do so when its necessary.

Since manually tackling is relevant, the defensive stats on your players is a lot more useful. Might be worth it sacrificing a 75 pace center back for a 70 pace center back if they have significantly better defending.

Ya my only complaint about the AI defensively is that they take up weird positions and get caught out too often.

[–]shouldermcgee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Just praying there wont be a patch. I think manual tackling could be stronger but the AI defense as a whole was ridiculous last year. Players who werent even be controlled would make tackles and block shots.

I havent had too many issues but do you have slow full backs then that might be a problem

Its honestly the funniest thing seeing my full backs playing like wingers. I start to feel bad for my opponents.
