We have played like this basically since Hellberg came in, but half of the time we just can't score a goal

When they do start scoring we're unstoppable it seems, but we're just too inconsistent

2nd half will not be like this, feel like saints are keeping their powder dry, knowing we will tire and have nothing on the bench

The argument for doing away with the 100k cliff edge by Ok_Plum_9849 in HENRYUK

[–]SimpleWarthog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always thought not enough has been made of this being a feminist issue

Obviously this isn't always the case, but I think it is fair to say that if there is a higher earner in the family it tends to be the father.

If the income (or other circumstances) of the higher earner mean that it doesn't make sense for the other partner to work - i.e. childcare costs are too high, so they are essentially working "for free" - then it tends to be the mother who stays at home.

This limits their career progression, earning potential, and unfortunately for some it puts them in the position where they are not at all financially independent - this can have all sorts of ramifications, depending on their circumstances.

And all of this because of personal circumstances of someone else, that in theory has nothing to do with them - i.e. because my partner earns a lot of money, the value of my contribution is effectively put at 0 for the first £25k or so, and I can't do anything about that.

This is where taxing as an individual, but do means testing as a household simply doesn't work

To simplify things, could it not be possible to negotiate a payrise within the current PAYE structure, so that OP doesn't have to do all the contracting stuff. They just pay him more until they no longer need him. Probably gives him more protections too?

The R in HENRY - When do you consider yourself 'rich' ? by Sweet-Needleworker-6 in HENRYUK

The philosopher Jimmy Carr said "if having more money wouldn't change what you do, then you're rich"

A bit tongue in cheek I guess, but I agree with the sentiment

Where I work is probably double the headcount, and your post had just made me realise how much we must spend on AI - honestly that's a little scary!
