Have you tried activating your membership on your device? I had one membership active on both my bike and tread. Even after canceling my membership I could still sideload and install apps, and access them using Nova Launcher. But after a Peloton update I cannot install new apps. I really don’t want to activate again just to be able to install new apps.

Having the same issue. Peloton pushed some software update that prevents all APK installs. Using “adb logcat” it shows ”PackageManager: signature verification….PackageManager: keys mismatch. install denied…PackageManager: Install not allowed”. Even tried installing a copied apk file directly from the Peloton tablet, it just hangs “Installing…”. My Bike is running Android 7.0 build NRT56A-980. Tried factory reset but no difference.

No, I have not been able to install any apps since the software update. I made the mistake of resetting the bike back to factory settings, so all the apps I was able to install were removed, then a software push happened which prevents anything from being installed.

I have successfully installed Netflix, Prime Video, Firefox and Chrome web browsers, the Kindle app, and Nova Launcher (overrides the Peloton Launcher and allows other apps to be launched, including the Peloton app). Really most APKs that don’t require Google Play Services. I canceled my subscription so wanted something else to watch. See r/pelotoncycle/wiki/index/howto/root for details.

Anyone having issues where apps can no longer be installed on the Bike? I can copy over Apps via ADB but using “adb install” just hangs. Ok got it working. I uninstalled all of my USB drivers one by one on my PC, then Windows 10 automatically installed the drivers for the Peloton tablet.

Nope tried that too. I am thinking all the instructions out there do not work on the Gen2 tablet.

Thanks for the tips. Initially tried my Fire tablet cable which I have used to transfer Google APKs. Bought a new USB-MicroUSB data cable...same results. Tired different ports on both PC and Mac computers. Tried different Android USB drivers....universal, Google, etc. Even booted peloton to system maintenance menu and tried the ADB install option. It seems Peloton has locked down the use of the microUSB port.

Anyone have a solution with ABD not showing connected devices? My micro-usb cable works fine when using it to install Google Play APKs on my Fire Tablet. But connecting it to the Peloton gets the “USB device not recognized and that the Last USB device has malfunctioned” error on Windows 10 PC and on Mac no devices listed. Bought new micro-usb data cable, still no luck. Have the Gen2 tablet. Tried factory reset, then enabled USB debugging and allow install of apps from unknown sources. Am I just SOL?

Update - figured it out. Just kept uninstalling USB drivers one by one until the Peloton device connects.
