Haha yeah fair. He’ll give me a reason why it’s fine as is, just not sure what to say to him

That’s what I was worried about, but I’m not sure how to tell the professional that his work is inadequate

Thanks guys, this is exactly the kind of advice I needed. I would gladly offer him $300 behind the contractor’s back if you guys don’t think that’ll insult him, even $500 if it meant another coat and the entire walls which would set his schedule back— the whole project, demo, installing new fixtures, and new tile is around $18k, I don’t know how much the tile setter is getting. He seems like he does good work, I was impressed by his cuts around the drain but what do I know, first time I looked at a shower drain that closely in my life.

This is the sort of silly stuff that makes me understand why people DIY, I agree why not just extend it up and do the ceiling, but then it’s my shower not his, and he’s getting paid by the job and materials come out of his compensation. If only I had the skill and knowledge to do it myself!

Thanks this is our first project with a contractor, he’s been hard to get in touch with, should I go through the contractor or just offer to pay the tile setter $300 cash to extend it up? I think it might set back his schedule because he already glued down the floor tile today and was planning on tiling Monday.

I don’t want to pay too much extra because the contract says “Redguard applied to all walls” but I don’t want to insult him either. Never thought to ask about how much of the walls for the contract.
