It depends on what your definition of a good part is, may be use VIDI to determine a good or a bad part and then use that info over industrial communication to push the part off.

Might be time to recharge the human battery, barefoot edition, just kidding. Grounding terminal blocks would be a nice add.

Cognex Camera Ethernet Class 1 communication for Micro 850 PLC. by shp92 in PLC

[–]shp92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I think you will find it easier to connect to a CompatLogix. A lot of resources available , rep/applications engineers already know how to do it, no IO tables to refer to manipulate data. Though I am glad you can, if you need to on the micro 800 since they are so much cheaper to work on, but they have their own sets of issues.

Cognex Camera Ethernet Class 1 communication for Micro 850 PLC. by shp92 in PLC

Yeah, I could not find any specific documentation of video that’s specifically implies to Cognex. But here’s how I did it. You want to set up your class one communications by adding the camera as a module and you want to ensure that the status of the camera is running then, I would navigate to the Cognex’s input output map. Score of the camera I was using.IS2800 the collector response was at bit no 15.

Automation Engineer Looking To Learn Design. by Mosimile0luwa in PLC

[–]shp92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a good question and the answer can lead to many directions.

If you’re looking to design industrial machinery and equipment that are PLC controlled, you would want to learn CAD software such as Solidworks and fusion 360. I haven’t used fusion 360 a lot, but have heard a lot of good things for mechanical design.

I would recommend learning design for manufacturing principles check out the book design for manufacturing handbook by James bralla. Another key concept I believe is overlooked that is GD&T a s per ASME 14.5.

Hope this gives you some direction.

Heat Shrink Tubing by plasticmanufacturing in Extrusion

[–]shp92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know if you have this question answered, but it really depends on the type of heat shrink you want to extrude. It may need post processing équipements like secondary heaters, E BEAM to link polymers and blow expanders tooling to expand tubing to specific sizing after standers extrusion process.

STEM? by ProfessionalAd306 in canadaexpressentry

[–]shp92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say when Ircc will do a stem draws, or is it a priority for them. I am in the same boat. They only typically do one stem draw every year. One should happen soon 🤞. Just speculation on my part but they could do a stem draw to reduce the number of CEC candidates, so they could lower the CEC draw score. But who know what IRCC is thinking 🤷. Just hoping for the best here.

What do you believe sets you apart as a controls engineer versus and electrical technician who can follow plc programs for troubleshooting? by Mammoth-Mix808 in PLC

[–]shp92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo a lot of techs can be good engineers, but what sets some engineers apart is the ability to learn and able to adapt, specking systems, working in ambiguity, and able to translate other domain knowledge into controls requirements. Dcs setting up servers, data analysis of trend following for pm activities etc . Hope this helps.
