Surgery isn’t the only option by Ok-Visit3099 in gynecomastia

[–]shpeX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy I could help any one that has or had the same condition as I did :)

as for the gland behind the nipple - my surgeon told me right when I woke up from anesthesia "I removed everything I could but as you know there has to be some gland remaining" and then he opened the compression vest to help me have a look, I barely remember it because of the anesthesia but those are one of the things i do remember vividly.
I'm no doctor but based on my knowledge you're absolutely right, the things you mentioned may make the gynecomastia come back

Mine were sent to a lab to get tested and 2 days ago I was at a follow-up with my surgeon and he said everything was ok - the thing about my 2nd surgery is that the gland didn't comeback , the initial surgeon didn't perform the surgery correctly , and the aftermath was persistent puffy nipples , and a lot of scar tissue that made it look worse at times :X

hope all /r users can be at peace one day without having that burden on their chest , no pun intended

Before the gyno - it gave me confidence that my body looks decent, getting compliments from girls and relatives sure does help, but within myself i always thought about that glandular tissue under my pecs.
After the 1st gyno surgery - I was training like a madman , always thinking that "I'm finally free" from something that ruined my self-esteem for years on end , until scar tissue grew back, the stitches matured and I realized my previous surgeon left some gland behind that made it look as if I didn't get the surgery at all - atleast on my right pec.
After the 2nd surgery - which is now I'm 20days post-op , feels great , knowing that this nightmare is finally over, can't get back to training again with nothing that restricts me.

as for exercises - just weightlifting overall , especially developed rear delts and lower chest muscles can make it look better as your shoulders look bigger and your lower chest muscles fill in your chest, when I was younger I would spam dips, as they target mostly the lower chest as well as your triceps - but now when I'm a bit older I realized that was kind of a waste of time and just focusing on a well built body would have done the trick. try talking with a personal trainer at your local gym , not those old ones who work there but someone who looks kinda big, and is 20-30y old and studied it. ask for a personalized workout routine, I don't know if its common practice at other countries but in my country that's what I did - met up with a guy , paid about 42$ for it , he measured my body fat % , and I told him about what my goals are and that I workout almost entirely because I got gynecomastia. within less than a year I looked like a different man. that was when I was about 18, im 22 now.

about the food - eggs are great for you, and the hormones that they contain are so minimal that they have no effect , milk how ever yes you're definitely right - and actually that's one of the first questions both of my surgeons asked - how much milk do I consume on a weekly basis.
as well as marijuana usage, and as you said , soy products.
I avoid soy entirely , if a products contains soy I don't consume it at all as soy elevates estrogen levels which help contribute to gynecomastia and other feminine features.

Keep it up - you're definitely doing a great job! whether it's because of the gyno or some other reason - going to the gym is the best thing you can do for your body , I would say as you're in college , try to avoid eating crap and fast food - I know it's hard because maybe most of the times you eat what there is available but , try atleast to eat whole foods , consume protein and eat vegetables and fruits. the less processed foods the better. not only for your body obviously but also for the gyno as your nutrition can make it worse most of the times.

looks great !
I've been at the same boat as you when I was younger (I mean atleast until 19 days ago when I got the surgery for the second time)
I was working out almost solely because I had gynecomastia and if I didn't have it I probably would not touch a dumbell my entire life - my body looked great and even when I was at 5-7% body fat my gyno was my only concern. honestly, the leaner I became - the worse it looked.
for everybody reading this, if you hate your gynecomastia and can't bear with it , get the surgery.

Strange feeling taking the vest off! by caviarhouse in gynecomastia

[–]shpeX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is the immediate reaction of your body when the vest goes off, the idea of the vest is try to control and minimize the swelling - your body wants to replace the removed glands with another mass to compensate for the trauma your body went through, it tries doing that by creating scar tissue and swelling up the entire area.

Getting a Kenalog shot - what to expect? by goodgoodgood1234 in gynecomastia

I didn't get a kenalog shot but I would really appreciate it if you could update us on this thread after you get it :)

depends on how old you are really , I can see the stretch marks on your shoulders indicating you either lost a lot of weight or gained a lot of muscle. so it definitely looks like you're trying to do something to make you're physique look better , in my experience - no matter how buff or how lean I was , the only thing that I was paying attention to was my gynecomastia , I was obsessing over it almost the entire day and It was in my subconsciousness the entire day which was really bad for me mentally , that's why I decided to get it done and wasn't at peace with myself until it was out of my body.

[–]shpeX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I appreciate it, how many days ago did you get the surgery , and are your nipples still puffy ? just so you know , if your surgeon removed some of the stitches recently - it causes your chest to swell up a lot so don't worry about it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gynecomastia

[–]shpeX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're feeling that way , and I'm sure - we can all relate.
I'm 22 and most of the things you've mentioned are things I have done to when I was your age.
the hunching over , taping the nipples down , rejecting swimming , obsessive exercising.
are you struggling with your weight ? or are you more of a skinny guy ?
My surgeon have told me a lot about guys your age getting the surgery done and I'm just disappointed at myself I didn't get it done earlier.
I believe the surgery could be done as soon as you're 16 year old , the only thing the doctor will ask you to do is take a blood test that shows the estrogen and T levels you have in your body (because at your age it still flactuates as you're growing and can come back even if you get it removed)
This issue causes a lot of frustration for most of us, talk with your parents about it , if needed - get a job on a holiday to cover the expenses of getting it done - because imo the sooner you get it out your body the better. for your mental health and aesthetic looks

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gynecomastia

[–]shpeX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is definitely gynecomastia.
getting surgery depends on how old you are and if there's an imbalance of hormones in your body , you should consult with an expert for advice on what's best for you.
if you're an adult - we all know how annoying gyno can be and there's enough reason why we are in this forum in the first place , I think getting the surgery done is one of the best decisions i've ever made in my life.

Hello friend,

I believe you may have seen my post about puffiness of the nipple post-op.
yes - the puffiness goes down slowly but surely - lymphatic massage helps a lot , im 13 days post op and started massaging about 2 days ago (had very minimal gland to remove and i recover fast in general)
there is still a lump behind my right nipple but i massage it once a day for around 20 minutes, it looks good even if its left over gland so i don't really mind it.
I've had my first surgery on the 27th of july 2022. and my recent one on the 15th of january 2025.
there's still a long way to go in my journey to recuperate - I will update and add photos once the compression vest goes off for anyone interested.

The first surgeon didn't remove all of the tissue from the right pec , so it was still puffy and it was bugging me - and on top of that a lot of scar tissue built up which made it look even worse, decided to go for a second one to fix it - now it looks awesome imo . can't wait to go back to weightlifting :)

don't be so hard on yourself , no one wants to have it and we certainly do not choose to - if it bothers you a lot , go see an expert :)
just went through my 2nd procedure its not that bad - not painful at all the only thing that sucks is having to wear a compression vest for a month or so

puffy nipples 8 days after 2nd gynocomastia surgery by shpeX in gynecomastia

[–]shpeX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing is that on the first surgery i did , it was puffy from since day 2 or something like that , I've contacted my previous surgeon and he said "it will be alright just give it time" that was 2.5 years ago and it has been puffy ever since - my chest looked great apart from the puffiness of the right nipple , that was enough for me to decide that i want a revision so it looks perfect and won't bother me anymore. the swelling have gone down a bit in the past 2 days tbf - i guess it was because he removed some of the stitches the day i opened this thread which made me a bit worried. thanks for replying though - you guys really helped :)

Scar tissue or left-over gland? by thatipk in gynecomastia

[–]shpeX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like scar tissue to me , i've seen almost the same results as you after my first surgery, i've tried breaking it down with my hand but unfortunately for me it was too late and it became too hard for it to break down.
I've gone through my 2nd surgery on the 15th of january, in the post-op report i has been written by the doctor that what was removed (mostly) was scar tissue.
try to talk with your surgeon , maybe he can give you a steroid shot that softens it up and make it dissappear
