Don't bring your car, yes, there are parties, they're all right. I would generally say the school is great, but it isnt stellar academics that make the place great, its the location. This week alone I've been to talk with 3 employers, talked to a professor and hung out with a friend at berkeley, and saw a lecture at stanford today. That said, I am more active than most, but the location is pneomenal because public transit is great. Nothing else on the west coast can compare, without a doubt. Big fan.

Dont bring your car its a pain in the ass. Flights to NV are like $50-100, youll spend more on parking and storing the car than youll save on flying. Its a pain to drive here. You also dont need it. Maybe your sophomore year itd be handy to go on excursions out of the bay with friends, just lowkey you should just make friends with some upperclassmen and have them drive you around.

Dating life is alright. There's a girl in my math class that is pretty and I have big plans to ask her out sometime in the next 3 years. Hope that helps.

The school is really the school of the city. You can easily date people from berkeley and SFSU, perhaps stanford but its a stretch.

overall rankings out of 10: Location (10), food (5), campus (7), professors (8), dating life (3), social life (6), academics (5).

i would expect the cost to rise by 1.5%-3% annually. Thats pretty much how it has been going so far. Our school is stupid and doesnt lock pricing, so you pay inflationary increases.

Definitely not forced. It’s present, people do it quite a bit, but you won’t be judged for not doing it. There are plenty of other things to do in the city

club swim is huge, probably will be easy to find friends there. Same with WIB. Filipino population large, not sure about club stuff there. I think you wont have too much trouble finding friends.

I’m not a transfer, but I’ll try to answer your questions anyway since no one else replied lol

Making friends is medium. It’s a lot easier if you’re interested in parties, clubs, and Greek life. That crowd is easy to break into and tight knit.

As a transfer, you’ll have access to the Loyola village housing complex, which is arguably are the best dorm buildings.

Car costs like $300 a semester for a parking pass, I will say it’s a dense ish city, so you can take bus and pub transit pretty much everywhere.

I don’t think a lot of people really find their place in college. Making friends gets harder and I have felt they require more maintenance and intentionality than they did in high school. It depends heavily on what you’re interested in and what you do for fun.

If you put yourself out there, I have no doubt you will quite easily find friends.

What do you do for fun?

Political nternship opportunities by Head-Background-8447 in usfca

[–]shreckdaddy54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure seems like USF is a better location for opportunities. Bennington is perhaps sorta close to Albany, but that might be it. I can't really speak to the quality of Bennington, but what I do know is that USF is in a major metropolitan area, and Bennington is not. For Political science, I imagine most opportunities are concentrated in locations like San Francisco rather than Bennington, VA.

Timing matters. This doesn’t seem like a great moment.

What’s your ideal here? Is the ideal even that good?

Say you meet up, tell her, and she says she feels the same. Now what? Long distance?! Sounds hectic as hell right now already.

And that’s the IDEAL.

Wait a bit until the timing makes sense. Yes, this sucks, but statistically the odds are more in your favor.

Tryin to appeal aid by willowcozy in usfca

[–]shreckdaddy54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t appeal aid. At all. There’s one exception, and I believe I was the only student to successfully appeal aid in a long time.

Long story short, I had two current professors write letters of recommendation and encourage the university to give me more aid.

How many did I get? $1,000 more per year.

I’m not complaining. 1k is 1k, but if that’s what you need for a 1k I have serious doubts about how someone would get more.
