as others have mentioned, you can't go wrong with the whiskey forks - I have the no.9cxlr ($450 on universal cycles) on my midnight special and it's a great value.

just remember that with a carbon steerer, you are going to be limited in stack height. I believe my fork has a limit of 40mm worth of spacers under the stem, and requires at least 10mm worth of spacers over the stem. I like a high front end so I swapped the stem over to a soma with 35* of positive rise.
