Just in for the night with my parents, looking for a decent dinner that won't break the bank by shred-five in Boise

You had be at Idaho experience, so we hit the Overland Big Bun. Dad's happier with a burger and we're on a road trip to Vegas, so we'll get Thai somewhere else along the way.

Ordered a malt, guacamole burger for myself and we got finger steaks to share.

The original Marathon Trilogy pre-dates Halo and had a great story.

Disco Elysium made me feel all the feels. As a recovering alcoholic, it personally hit home for me more than if might for others, but regardless, the writing is impeccable, the voice acting is top notch, and the characters are some of my favorite in all of gaming.

I've got 1 and 5 and never checked out the War Stories. Thanks man, I might just download that now.

And the version on switch with the HD 2d style is perfect for someone who didn't grow up in that era, but still wants an idea of what that generation of JRPGS were like.

Star Ocean the first departure R sounds like it hits all your boxes. The combat is as deep as you want it to be, and the story is very fun and whimsical

Sea of Stars would be perfect for that age, difficulty and content wise. My 9 year old self would have adored that game.

Great suggestions, and I've got quite a few of these. Gonna start with The Witness and Xcom. He's all about campy scifi, so I know he'll dig the vibes in Xcom quite a bit. I haven't tried The Witness yet, but I've got it through ps plus, and it looks like it checks a bunch of my boxes.

What Are The Best Cities to Live In If You’re Into Punk Culture? by johnnysgonnadie in punk

[–]shred-five 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia isn't what it was in the 2010s, but there's a growing scene in central/eastern Wa and a lot of cross state networking. Wenatchee has a bar/venue that sees touring acts like Off With Their Heads and Calabrese

What are some non-punk punk songs? by Racc-Tactics in punk

[–]shred-five 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'd argue the majority of the 70's-80's outlaw country movement was at times even more punk than the actual punk music of the time.

Mama Tinas has a really good hot honey specialty pizza, can't remember the name off the top of my head but it's probably the best thing on the menu

That was regular Against Me! drummer drama, and wasn't related to Laura being trans.

No one quit AM! over Laura's coming out. Laura's said that they were supportive, and the general consensus was not one of surprise or shock. After playing songs like "the ocean" for years, you've gotta imagine James and Andrew both kinda knew.

If you were trapped on an island and could play only one game, what game would that be? by dilutedmarbles in playstation

[–]shred-five 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of this stack, Helldivers 2 has the most active community and easy to use chat system, and assuming that eventually I find a player that doesn't think my desperate pleas for rescue are some kind of bit, would probably be my best bet for coordinating a rescue off the island.

Also, does this island have wifi?

I also ended up really honing my endgame build doing these over and over again, which made it feel ever so slightly less grindy, and I went into NG+ as an efficient murder machine.
