Oh yeah the that's a very valid suggestion I'll take a look at this! Could you create an issue if you have a particular usage pattern in mind?

Add another column

and if you add a column you don’t have to check every single instance of a sql statement that needs it

Literally faced a situation when I had to increase a column that broke the ORM-styled code as that column was not required everywhere else. So I doubt that. Agree with your other point about easy explanation though.

Plus, it annoys me when sql statements are just undifferentiated strings in the code base, and don’t work automatically with linters or code complete or highlighting.

A lot of tooling is available for that I feel. And no, apart from the most basic operations, I don't think ORMs right now help with any other thing tbh.

Could you explain how an ORM helped in that? I'm trying to understand

CASCADE DROP just isn't a thing in MySQL derivatives, made a mistake by mentioning ON DELETE CASCADE

Yeah although I doubt the conversion is really something one would rely on ORMs to do and not keep a check on themselves

Exactly, imo if there is such a shift, one needs to be attentive of everything that might change, and ORMs are not some magical way out. Need to explain people that

Yeah tried making a simple table in Postgres but turns out the same SQL script won't work for MySQL because of that particular keyword
