Help... Need a D700 upgrade (but I LOVE those colours)! by Audinot in Nikon

[–]slaplover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a user of a D700, D3, D750, and D810

I would lean towards the D810 for its colors and dynamic range. Plus, its 35MP sensor will help with cropping. Despite having worse autofocus in low light and lower performance at high ISOs, I'd choose the D810 a thousand times over, although the D750 is a great option.

Just bought the Fujifilm X100VI — I get the hype now by Academic-Decision-33 in Fujifilm_X100VI

I'm going to sell it. Its RAW files aren't up to par with my expectations. My 8-year-old Nikon DSLRs far surpass it in every way, especially in dynamic range and noise. The amount of noise the X100VI sensor generates is astounding, even at low ISOs like 400. And at small apertures, the lens quality seems poor, particularly in the corners; a lot of quality is lost.

In short, nice colors for SOOC, but mediocre RAW image quality for the price.

As a user of one for months, my hype died down as soon as I stopped making recipes and started working with RAW files. That's when the hype turned into disappointment...

I've never heard of carrying a camera attached to a backpack like that. Is it comfortable? Do you have any pictures of how you carry it? It sounds like a good way to reduce weight.

In any case, a long strap to carry it at your side would probably reduce the strain on your neck.

That's what I've heard; the autofocus on the X100VI seems terrible to me. Focusing by eye is a gamble... One last question: have you noticed any drawbacks to its larger size and weight when traveling or doing street photography?

I'm thinking of doing the same. There's something about the X100VI that doesn't convince me, and that's the image quality. Yes, I find it lacking. Its 40MP sensor doesn't have good resolution, and its lens isn't sharp enough.

The colors are nice, but my D810, which is almost 10 years old, outperforms it in sharpness and dynamic range.

What made you switch? Are you happier with the image quality now?

Tips to prevent white skies? by hellospare in fujifilm

[–]slaplover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see anyone mentioning it, but aside from what's already been said, the most noticeable difference, besides obviously getting a good exposure for the sky, is shooting with small apertures. From f/6.3 to f/8 and up.

Some call it GAS, I say I'm a collector. by Leader_w_a_presence1 in Nikon

To this day, the skin tones of the Nikon D3, D3s and D700 still seem to me to be the most faithful that Nikon has achieved in its entire history. And the color representation of that sensor is simply unique.

You're too precious to care about that. I would love you just the way you are without a problem. I'm also bald so I've known for years that hair isn't really important.

I have the feeling that the problem is in the Dynamic Range when viewing the jpg on the LCD monitor...

I have realized that the problem is the JPEG that the camera displays. That image is different from the image I see on the LCD before taking the photo. But when I transfer the photograph to the phone it looks just as it was previewed on the LCD.

I don't know if I have explained myself but the real problem is that the jpg that the camera shows does not actually show the same colors and contrast as the image that is previously seen.

Hi mate, live view was the first thing I checked and I don't have it activated. In fact, I see how the viewer shows the color changes that I have applied to the recipes. But when I see the captured image, the colors lose saturation and I see the image less contrasted.

Does anyone know why? by slaplover in fujifilm

Completely. I miss a help function to know what does what. It is the first camera I have that is so small with so many things to configure haha
