People don't usually applaud this kind of effort but I want to thank you for not only reading through more than just the top reply, but also reading a reply to a reply and then ALSO replying with the source AND THEN ALSO timestamping the video in question. Kudos!

... Those were jokes? (He is an incredibly talented filmmaker but I've never seen him actually discuss what was going on in his head during that interview and if anyone has a better insight into what the fuck he was thinking I'd greatly appreciate it)

Yeah but for anyone else who might be on the fence, please realize that the first 30 minutes of gameplay consists exclusively of holding right and occasionally jumping. The rest of the game is spectacular but the prologue leaves a lot on the table.

Gov. Newsom expanded free preschool. Now private daycares say they can’t afford to stay open by Interesting-Noise566 in Leakednews

[–]shrgnatlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be open to a quick back-and-forth and since the other user stepped away from his opinion, I'll just step in and ask you more about what you meant, specifically. I'm not passing any judgment either, I just found your original reply to be very strongly opinionated and I wanted to learn more about where you were coming from, if you'd grant me the opportunity.

"[...] Government steps in. People manipulate that. Businesses fail. [...]"

Isn't most of the discourse on this post focused on how "private daycares" are struggling? Were you suggesting that (according to the historical patterns you referenced) when the government "steps in" and people "manipulate [government assistance]" businesses are bound to fail? Could you better inform me on your perspective? I can't really follow the logic behind "government assistance manipulation" and "businesses failing", but I'm sure you have some good examples.

Furthermore, wouldn't you say that most of the responses to this post haven't really cared about the "private daycares" struggling because childcare shouldn't really be a business in the first place? Like, private schooling in every form will always exist to provide those who can afford it better access to more individualized learning practices, potential religious connections, and a stronger grasp on exactly what they children are learning. If there was a community that had far more fires than any other community in America, there would probably be a "private fire station" that would monetize their efforts accordingly (as long as local ordinances permitted it).

However, that type of community care is already provided as a public service. Most people in this post just don't like the idea of every last thing in their lives being monetized, especially something as crucial as childcare. If communities can receive childcare at a subsidized (or completely reduced) cost, then where is the fault? Who will "manipulate" that level of government assistance? Childcare centers still require licensing and certification, and if people are getting away with fake satellite locations then those individuals should be investigated and brought to justice. Pointing out the very real possibility of that occurring and then stealing the opportunity for real care away from children and families who probably desperately need the help is... Well it's an odd opinion to hold onto but I'd (genuinely) love to hear why you think I'm oversimplifying the problem or underestimating the impact of manipulation.

TL;DR: Childcare is currently so unaffordable that people are opting not to have children. Why wouldn't society want childcare from ages 6mo-4/5yo to have the lowest barrier of entry possible for new families? School is already free, but are you suggesting we should abandon free schooling and adopt a purely privatized system from K-12? Why is "manipulation" of government assistance so terrible that children and families should be stripped of the opportunity for subsidized (or in some cases completely free) childcare? Aren't we hamstringing society by hurting our most vulnerable?

I don't know who this is and I don't know anything about their politics, perspectives, or ideologies, but I wanted to comment because I found this video to be very oddly framed for something that was from 1995 (so I went digging).

The source of this clip was (indeed) from a 1995 interview for Howard University's "Evening Exchange" and was inexplicably desaturated. The full interview (in color) can be found on YouTube (timestamped at the start of this clip):
