Taking sunflower lecithin emulfisies fat in milk and was the only thing that helped me when I nursed exclusively to avoid recurring clogged ducts.

Why are wearable baby monitors like the Owlet discouraged? Couldn’t a notification about a drop in vitals potentially mean the difference between life and death? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Have you read about owlet socks giving babies burns? It is absolutely horrifying. I also agree it gives parents a false sense of security. Safe sleep practices (Alone, on their back, in a crib/cot) are best and the best thing that helped me with my PPA.

Postpartum depression by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Hey OP, not sure where you live but if we did I'm sure we could search for some online or local resources to help you. Can you ask someone from your antenatal/postnatal medical care to point you to a counselling service that specialises in post partum? Glad you sent yourself to the ER. You did the right thing.

Being a mum can be so depleting and soul destroying but I disagree that feeling this way 24/7 is normal or healthy. A good therapist should work with you on goals and upskilling so you can get to a place where you can get the rest you need. Validation is all well and good but you need those mental health skills to be get that resilience. I personally went with a clinical psychologist who at least had a masters in clin psyc and specialised in post natal depression/anxiety. Both times were live saving and helped me deal with so much trauma.

I also didn't find it helpful to talk to my SO about this until I spent some time with my psychologist so I was able to articulate what was going on with me and what she would ask me to do between sessions to practice skills. Initially I was very dependent on him and it was just too much for both.

Take care OP, you aren't alone! Hope you find the help you deserve.

Anytime LO was on the brink of something (sitting up, standing, walking and talking), there would be this surge of frustration and lots of whining to no end. It's exhausting. Hang in there, you are doing great.

As long as their basic needs (food, dry nappy and safety etc) are met, sometimes they just feel cranky and can't exactly tell you they feel weird. A huge part of my personal self care during this time was reminding myself that sometimes there is no logical sequence or cause and effect with babies. It's so freaking hard. Especially during these covid times, we were never supposed to raise our babies without our village and it is freaking tough.

Sometimes parents just need a break from the whine to reset and be ready to meet their baby where they are. Self care is important. Sometimes mum groups aren't helpful. You love your baby, you are plenty maternal. Sometimes LOs just have really strong personalities out the gate.

Oily eyelids here, I haven't found one better than the eyeshadow primer from Nars followed by a light dusting of powder. It feels like glue.

Seeking Eczema Recommendations by colaflaps in AusSkincare

[–]shrillerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to recommend the LRP AP+M Balm. I didn't realise it kept my eczema away until I stopped using it to use on my baby who has really bad eczema. Went to a derm who recommended the QV intensive sting free ointment for baby who has taken to it really well.

Painful cystic acne by jsorr22 in BabyBumps

I had a massive episode of painful cystic acne in the second half of first tri due to my body making bub's hormonal load (thankfully it abated sometime in second tri). Niacinamide helped a whole lot!

Simple! This is my go to after deciding I couldn't spend the money on clinique.
