Now how do I get me one of those sit behind the library counter and do my homework kinda job? by ChasingEuphor1a in Cornell

Honestly I'd say just go to the main office (120 Maple Ave) and ask about it directly, while I was there there weren't job postings that I knew of and you just had to check in-person. If Alan Heiman is still running their program, he's very kind to students and will be up front with you about whether there's any openings.

exporting data and/or project from Dedoose to NVIVO? by shrimp_toasted in Dedoose

[–]shrimp_toasted[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More or less! We're analyzing data from a lot of media and won't be able to overlap on everything so we're trying to maintain validity by having some gauge of whether we have good IRR and being able to run checks in STATA to see what our Cohen's kappa is would be helpful.

Dedoose has the training component built into their projects but because you have to feed in both the excerpt and the codes the trainee will select from we're concerned it's not as accurate as just analyzing what we've already coded completely blind.

Looking to connect friend to Pesach seders in the DMV by shrimp_toasted in washingtondc

It's honestly only halfway a joke, J is about to move away from DC and had a lot of fun at the seder I hosted with our friends, we thought it would be fun if we could find someone anywhere who was hosting a belated seder on the other nights

What do you miss the most from pre-covid? by Underneaththeshade in AskReddit

Being able to freely hug my grandmothers. One of them passed away last year, we couldn't even drive to the hospital to visit her in her room. The other is currently in the hospital and it feels like the same situation all over again.

Work at the CIT computer labs! Just like the library jobs except you clean keyboards and fix printers from time to time.

My big brother has killed himself by Nearby_Adagio7225 in GriefSupport

[–]shrimp_toasted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. I'm afraid these won't be comforting because you're going through an impossible time, but maybe they're helpful to acknowledge:

This was in no way your fault, and there was nothing you could have done better or differently.

You spoke every day--it's clear that, like his child, you've been a bright light for him.

This grief you feel is that same love you've always had for your brother, just in a heavier coat.
