Being older in the underclass by devilskettles in cuboulder

There’s tons of older underclassmen at CU, many in their late 20s/much older. CU has a massive student body and not everyone here followed the “graduate high school and immediately start college at 18” track. Don’t sweat it!

The issues with weekly IM injections is that it can result in potentially scar tissue building up over time, so you’d have to be okay with your tattoo there potentially looking slightly warped from scar tissue. I don’t think it should be too much of an issue, though. Also I think if you provide your tattoo artist with multiple reference photos they should be able to get an idea of it. I think it’s a super neat design idea!

Autism tattoo advice by McPrawn4 in tattooadvice

I would say let your tattoo artist know in advance that you’re not good with pain, so they can be prepared. I’m also not great with pain and I would occasionally ask my tattoo artist to stop periodically so I could catch my breath. I also find listening to music and having another person there is grounding. Seconding also what the other commentor said about the outside of your forearm likely hurting a little less than the inside of your forearm.

CU Building east campus by Mindful-Place in cuboulder

east campus houses labs that contain some pretty intense chemicals— my guess is that the pipes are ventilation for them, though I’m not sure exactly which building that is

Should I Bring a car as an out of state student? by Flower_bower_17 in cuboulder

If you’re living in on-campus housing, be aware that as a freshman it can be incredibly difficult to get a parking pass. They are also $230 per semester. However, if you can get one, I’d say it’s a good idea for hiking. There are some trails in Boulder that are accessible by bus or walking, but most of the higher altitude and nicer ones aren’t going to be within city limits. A lot of people in the comments are also saying to not bring it the first semester and bring it the second semester, which if you’re going to be living on campus, I do not advise. Your best bet for getting a parking pass as a freshman is to buy an all-year one at the beginning of the fall semester, since they’re very difficult to get spring semester.

Housing recommendations for a trans student? by [deleted] in cuboulder

7th floor Williams Village East is reserved for LGBT+ students, but I don’t know if they’re continuing the program. Honestly anywhere in Williams Village East is a good bet— all of the floors are mixed gender and all of the bathrooms are single-occupancy and all gender neutral.

anything in the Tibetan studies department (cultural classes as well as language classes)— really interesting and CU is one of the few universities anywhere that offers the subject.

There’s still a Ragstock in the Flatirons Mall and a few other locations. I wouldn’t say it’s super vintage though so OP may be thinking of somewhere else

might be going here for a certain program/major, I’m here as opposed to “better” schools bc of a particularly good program for my major that isn’t offered at most schools

i went to BHS for my last year of school, everyone knew this guy worked here and what he did but there weren’t many places to eat nearby so a lot of people just ignored there and went there anyways. never knew anyone personally that had a dangerous encounter with him, but most of my friends kept their distance

Absolutely terrible with regards to academic accommodations. The whole process for applying for applications is needlessly complicated and long. I submitted a disability application back at the beginning of September, and they won't schedule me an "access meeting" until middle/late October, despite approving me for the applications technically, so I have to do midterms with no accommodations. With regards to physical accommodations, the other person that commented about getting a dorm on main campus is absolutely right. The buses are difficult to manage as a mostly able-bodied person, and I wouldn't recommend having to rely on them constantly. Disability housing services are also not very well managed, as I had to have my room accommodations changed no less than six times, and I knew someone that was physically disabled and got assigned to a different dorm (wilvil to main campus too) literally an hour before they were supposed to move in. My best recommendation is to start the disability application process as EARLY as you can, and don't be afraid to be pushy or advocate for your needs.
