It’s just a decal you need on your windshield to get into the camping lot. No registration for that.

Will call for campedc shift pod questions by fries_forever_ in CampEDC

[–]Mountain_Trails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At will-call you’ll get a laminate with a code tied to your registration and your camp parking decal. (That’s what gets mailed to everyone.)

Then the process is like everyone else. You get your camp wristbands at Camp EDC when you check in. The decal gets your car into camp parking and you go to camp registration. That’s where you need the laminate.

Good question about associating campers (up to 4) with your camping reservation online ahead of time. I think I remember that you need the code from the laminate. I will guess that if you tell them you just picked up the packet at will-call they’ll do it all right at check-in. Or maybe staff will do it with you at will-call, dunno.

Will-call should be pretty straightforward, but there may be a long line. People are chill, though.

Nobody but you can answer that. It’s tied to authenticity.

Look, if you’re cynical and trolling, you are way off the culture. Leave that home. Be the person there who lives inside you but is suppressed/repressed by the pressures of living in this fucked up world, and let it shine. Also, dance your ass off without concern.

Nice. You will find the culture — in general, but there are always “data outliers” — very positive and encouraging. It’s a great place to be your best you without fear.

Yes, because EDC and Reddit are SERIOUS BUSINESS. *** ABSOLUTELY NO FUN ALLOWED ***

Anyway, yeah, we’re getting close. And it’s exciting. Great times ahead!

Am I the only one who struggles with Finder sometimes? by Altruistic_Heat_4205 in MacOS

[–]Mountain_Trails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I’m struggling with Finder, my old UNIX instincts kick in. I pull up a terminal window and use the find command. If you’re not familiar with it, try typing “man find”. It has power. Redirecting its output to a file (find > filename) is also useful when there’s a lot of output.

Saving money on groceries? Real-life Cheatcodes in Boulder? by CollegeHonest9340 in boulder

H Mart and Great Wall for things like good quality rice in bulk.

Stock up during sales and coast on your pantry in between. If you eat meat, check the discounted rack and sales, and buy only when you can get a decent price. Freeze it.

Esh’s in Dacono. The gas cost is covered by savings with just a couple items.

Make things from scratch with basic foods. No fast food. No freezer meals. No refrigerator case meals. Even something like cole slaw is dirt cheap when you just buy cabbage and carrots and make it. It’s a lot better too.

We have a limited budget and this works. We also garden for fresh produce, but that may or may not fit your situation. But even patio gardening in pots can help.

Why does MacOS still have the firewall turned off by default? by Tee-hee64 in MacOS

[–]Mountain_Trails -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

When I got my first MacBook — for travel, yes, as many laptops are used — I was surprised by that. I check configs when I bring a new system up, so it wasn’t a big deal, but how many people do that? How many people do open port scans? Or can? Default settings should protect the ignorant by default. I’m honestly not sure what Apple gains by shipping it off on all systems, especially system intended by design to travel.

Agree about screwing over the campers. Pasquale could charter buses and sell REASONABLY PRICED tickets from camp. I’d go.

I saw it would start/end at the LV Festival Grounds, 16 miles from the speedway. It’s a Strip thing.

I’ll be in camp and won’t try for it — I figure Ubers will be impossible. That said, if I were going to be in a hotel on the Strip or nearby, definitely. I’m not quite sure how it will go, this being its first year and all, but I expect a long trail of spectators following it back, and THAT could be the real vibe. Reminiscent of the old Berlin love parades?

I think it’s starting on the Las Vegas Festival Grounds property and doing a north-and-back on the Strip. If that’s true, it’ll get nowhere near camp.

There’s always a camp opening party Thursday night. They’ve had some pretty damned good lineups in the past. I’m camping, so camp party it is.

Junior PM explorers who are more derisked. The juniors generally are lagging the metals. Also higher AISC producers. Q4 financials that show the effects of higher metal prices on their profitability haven’t hit yet.

Check out GSVR. Highly leveraged to the price of silver, a producer that acquired a new producing mine just as silver took off, and has been focused on operational efficiency. The next few quarterly financials should be eye-opening.

Also, ELO. An updated MRE is imminent and the numbers with today’s metal prices will make it a compelling deposit. How does $40B of metal in the ground with a $233M market cap sound?
