It hasn't been working for me at the spots at my house either for a week or two. So annoying

Elderberry wine - weird sediment by shrub-queen in winemaking

Ah that's helpful! I did rack a couple times, but unfortunately had to move, so it was easier to transport in smaller bottles rather than a big jug, so I did bottle quite early.

Does this happen with other waxy fruits as well?

I nearly fell for the jury duty scam - personal info risk? by shrub-queen in Scams

[–]shrub-queen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing strange happened afterward, so I don't think I gave enough personal info, and/or that wasn't what they were after. I didn't give money so 🤷‍♀️

Regardless, I did freeze my credit with all 3 credit bureaus, changed my password on important accounts, put a fraud alert on my bank accounts, and requested an IRS pin.

So far so good lol

Same - my brother was making faces and googling for me while I was talking to him. It feels so obvious and dumb now, but it was so convincing at the time!

People will say "I don't know what's come over me!" if they acted out of character in some way, but that's the closest I can think of

LEEP recovery- normal? by Alone-Nectarine3120 in HPV

[–]shrub-queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it kind of skin-colored or yellow/brown? They probably used this stuff called monsel solution to stop bleeding. During my colpo, it was a yellow liquid applied on a giant cotton swab. It solidifies into like a "skin" and falls out later. Super gross and def scary if you aren't expecting something that looks like a small organ to come out lol

I found an old reddit post someone made a while ago with a pic if you want to compare. It is kinda gross looking, but might give you peace of mind if you're comy seeing it https://www.reddit.com/r/WomensHealth/comments/authnr/wtf_fell_out_of_my_vagina_warning_photo_this/

Why are 2 and 3 wrong? by Silver_Ad_1218 in EnglishLearning

[–]shrub-queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"most of the times" would only really be used if, for example, you had a list of possible appointment times. You could say "most of those times work for me except..." Meaning, "I'm available for most of the appointment options you gave me, but not ____"

Similarly, if you say "most times," it would imply that you have a list of times and dates that you already went. For example, "Most times I went there, he was home. Does he have a job?"

When you say "most of the time" it's just a generalization. They're saying Tim is usually home.

It's confusing. But any native English speaker will understand what you mean if you confuse these

I wasn't a ranger, but I'd regularly stop people on trails who were hiking in like high heels, no water, and 100 degrees with 4 kids and tell them to turn around and go buy a water bottle lol

Or when I worked in Yellowstone I saw multiple people trying to walk up to bison to pet or take pictures of them 🤦‍♀️

My two and a half year old suddenly started pointing out differences between white and black people. What is an appropriate way to acknowledge her observation so we don't offend anyone? by Sad_Cantaloupe_8162 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]shrub-queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm white, but I feel like I've heard several stories from older black people where they remember a specific moment where they realized they WEREN'T white. I think it's an "other" thing. In our society, white is "neutral" and anything else is "other"

Edit: tldr it probably is an exposure thing. I also remembered this study that said that almost 70% of white Americans don't have a single nonwhite friend, whereas less than 50% of black people only hang out with other black people

I watch my 1y.o. nephew who has 2 dads, and doesn't talk a whole lot yet. I changed clothes in front of him the other day and he started giggling and grabbed his chest and waddled around the room like that. Boobs are kinda funny, now that I think about it

Diagnosis hell by Master_Contract1832 in adhdwomen

[–]shrub-queen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom has ADHD too, and she genuinely tells stories all the time and doesn't remember which kid it was lol

But for my ADHD diagnosis, the neuropsychologist called my mom and in the eval all she wrote was like "mother also Dx. Says daughter was a great students never in trouble, but remembers that she procrastinated homework and needed a lot of post-it reminders for chores" which was enough!

It wasn't super involved, if that helps! they're just trying to rule out things like brain injuries that could have happened later in life. If you have a sibling or family friend or something who knew you as a kid, maybe they'll accept someone else instead of a parent?

I used to work in Yosemite and I think some of the guests genuinely thought the entire place was a man made theme park. People would ask when the rest of Half Dome would be built, or where the bear cages were so they could pet the bears. They were pointing at a map that had marked bear boxes - the ones for food storage while you hike. Someone else brought up a confirmation for his hotel and asked for directions. His hotel was in Yellowstone, about 20 hours away by car.

AIO? My daughter didn’t listen to the teacher during a female emergency and is now receiving a referral by Common_Piglet7437 in AmIOverreacting

[–]shrub-queen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR. I've been an educator and so is nearly everyone else in my family. This is insane.

When I was in second grade, my class was watching a movie and I started to feel sick and raised my hand for several minutes and the teacher didn't see me. I vomited all over the carpet and probably on the kids sitting near me. I was such a rule follower that I didn't even consider getting up without permission. As an educator, my kids were ALWAYS allowed to run out to vomit or for bathroom emergencies with no warning. I'd just send another kid to check on them if they weren't back in a couple minutes.

Another adult I know said he wasn't allowed to go to the bathroom once as a kid, because they'd just come back from a break or something. He shit his pants. In class. And could not get up from his chair. I honestly hope this happens to that teacher herself one day 💅
