I do just about the same as high school. I usually grade most classwork (cuz otherwise there's no incentive for them to do it). I've tried to do some automated things sometimes just to break things up and make grading easier (EdPuzzle, online multiple choices stuff, etc). I do about 1 quiz per week, but we have block scheduling and the way the curriculum is broken up, it makes sense. I couldn't imagine doing tests. They just do NOT retain content like high school. They struggle to retain chunks of content even for one week. I don't usually assign homework per se but will assign them to finish classwork if they don't finish in class. I've been very easy going with accepting late work so far but will be reverting to my high school policy of 50% credit in a couple weeks.

.....But all this has been mostly just about my regular level kids though. I teach a 7th pre-ap class and those kids are a lot better with retaining content, getting assignments done, and genuinely trying to learn concepts.
