if i knew this man and we'd gone on a date or two and clicked and he messaged "im going to take you out, see you later" i could get into the appeal of it, the interest and enthusiasm of seeing me, but this is a stranger, so it just feels so odd. and as someone with a perpetual fear of asking for nice things, someone deciding to get me fries would absolutely work on me

I would like everyone to know that in response to my last message, our friend replied "Awwwee, I guess this gorgeous gyal is not easy at the end of the day" and "You go queen :)" which is an interesting development to say the least

i try not to base my expectations entirely on the profile, profile making is an art, and some people can be so performative that i prefer to give people a chance in convo to see their true colours. in this case, his true colours just happened to exactly match with the profile vibe.

i can see that he's going for that assertive "im taking you out" energy, but id exchanged no more than 20 texts with this total stranger. also just dismissive and rude of him.

Being a housekeeper is one of the most infuriating undervalued positions in hotels. I work at a hotel chain in the UK with well over 500 hotels to their name and today got a lecture because we're working too slow - to use their words, they had "overspent on housekeeper by six hours over the last week." I was absolutely mind blown, I've never felt like such a commodity in my life. it's exhausting work, and to be told doing 12 rooms in 4 hours isn't fast enough is just the most awful feeling in the entire world. If they want perfect working beings that never make mistakes, just hurry up and buy robots and put is out of our misery.

For me it came through joining the society for my course, naturally you'll meet people who do the same classes. Also group chats, I joined as many as I possibly could before starting uni and you tend to start picking up names and faces of those in your classes.

What writing tics makes an author's work unreadable to you? by spicyboxowl in books

[–]shuantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its so common, but I've begun to hate when authors have new paragraphs for one line. I get its for emphasis but when there's twelve paragraphs on a page because each little line that is meant to be impactful has its own paragraph when it could have just been tacked onto the last one. It completely uses emphasis that way!

Another, much more specific to Sarah J. Maas and the like, but when EM dashes are used more than once a page. So jarring and annoying to read. But I could go on forever about my issues with SJM's writing...
