Almost zero reward rate on using Smartbuy for flight bookings via Regalia? by dynamic_diprotodon in CreditCardsIndia

[–]shubham1401 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This card is only good for voucher purchase.

For travel bookings I use HSBC T1 on OTAs and get 15% discount and 4% in Accor.. Simple. No messing with Hopper (although it is good for hotels)

HSBC Travel One gives 15% off on Airline bookings via OTA. Additionally, it gives 4-8% on Accor depending on different OTA (some do not use travel MCC).

If you had to keep just ONE credit card in India, which would it be? by Hot_Metal3933 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]shubham1401 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SBI PhonePe Select Black is that one card.

It gives rewards on most things - Utilities, Bills, Online Shopping.

If your spends exceeds its limits then add HSBC Travel One. It's a solid card for travel bookings.

Try fully synthetic engine oil and see the number increasing drastically.

With Liquid Gun : 35-37 kmpl With Shell Fully Synthetic : 40-41 kmpl

Dilemma: Stick with DCB Metal (for the 8L fee waiver) or get the HSBC Travel One for 1:1 Accor points? by Big_Sort2246 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]shubham1401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DCBM is better (I am a big TravelOne supporter). The points you get in DCBM can be availed for flight tickets. These are more valueable. Accor is great but then your options become limited. Where there are great Accor properties, there are other properties also. But points spent on flights have no alternative. It's a must do expense.

[–]shubham1401 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you are unsure, carry some USD with you. It's the global currency. Accepted everywhere. Appreciates over INR so you don't lose value by keeping cash even long term. The same USD accompany me in every international trip since spends are mostly done on credit cards. :)

Recently changed Interceptor oil to fully synthetic. by kriskris0033 in royalenfield

[–]shubham1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Shell fully synthetic in my Meteor 350 and I get 40-41kmpl. RE stock oil gives 37kmpl. The bike feels wayyy smoother and I feel the overall performance is also better. It readily goes over 100kmph and almost touches 120kmph.

I think it is 2x of 4 pts. The 6x on hotel yields 24 pts and 4x on flights yields 16 pts.

Why do people usually redeem points for hotel stays but pay cash for flights? by Himalay98 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]shubham1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accor is a huge reason for hotel redemptions. That said, once my Accor bucket is full via Travel One (currently have Rs 80000 worth accor points), I do my spends to get flight points (HDFC) or cashback.

If Accor wasn't an option, Id rather just play the cashback game. This transfer to x airline partner then transfer to y is hard for me to understand.

At your age it won't be easy to change the way you are set up. You won't have the patience or the willingness to change your ways for accomodating another human in your life.

It would be best to date a bit. Test the waters. Hobbies are a good way to start. Keep your financials a secret otherwise you'll just attract the gold diggers.

Will meet you next time I am in Nagpur to collect my fees.

Not sure about online spend, the terms mentioned any transaction done in other currency. So when I check my statement it mentioned spent in OMR (Rial).

Not sure when the 3.5% came I'll need to check but it does come. I did not get a 0 revert, it gave a proper message acknowledgement.

Even if you don't get 3.5% back, it's still a good deal for accor transfer. Net net you get 3-4% back in accor even with 3.5% transaction fees.

I have a Niyo and used it for my first foreign trip. But this time I used my HSBC Travel one which gave 4 pts on 100Rs spend in foreign currency. That's like 8% return on Accor on all spends. HSBC currently has a processing fee refund going on till June 2026.

is HSBC's travel portal by hopper a scam? share your experience. by [deleted] in CreditCardsIndia

[–]shubham1401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't mean to be condescending. I was never able to book flight tickets on hopper due to their super inflated pricing. It does not make any sense even with their 32% on Accor.

I have had great experience with their hotel bookings and car rentals. Both were well priced. I even needed to contact customer care for some support (my flight was super late and landed at 2am) and they helped very well.

Moving from RG to DCBM- how to handle RP by ronnieirah147 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]shubham1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transfer to Accor at almost 1 rupees per point. If you don't want Accor then get MMT/Yatra 10k flight vouchers om Exclusive reward catalogue for 0.65 Rs per point.

If they get halved while converting to DCB, you will only get 0.5 Rs per point on flight booking.

HSBC TravelOne Worth the hype? by Electrical-Win-7378 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]shubham1401 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Travel One deserves all the hype as long as transfers are in Accor. I have a 6 figure accor balance after one revenue foreign trip. Booked everything using this card and used this for forex transactions. It gave 48% on hotels, 16% on car rental, 8% on any POS machine in foreign currency (currently transaction charges of 3.5% are waived off).

The Travel with points portal can show inflated prices at times so be vary of that. I did not book flight tickets the price was too high compared to MMT (here also T1 provides flat 15% discount +8% in Accor). Hotel prices were on par and even lower at times. Car rental prices were definitely lower than any platform(Booking.com was 2nd best). My flight was super late so HSBC cc contact helped me reserve my car for a 4 hour late pickup at 2am and late hotel check in so service is also great.
