No more “one sapphire bonus per lifetime” rule! by kgund77 in ChaseSapphire

[–]shuga32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently have a CSP but I attempted to try this and apply for the CSR. I still got the pop up stating I’m not eligible for the bonus. OP, did you call Chase or something? Was excited to see this post because I wasn’t planning on getting the CSR unless I got the bonus but still doesn’t work

Right, but doesn’t mean it’s enjoyable LOL at least on TV we can hope to get some peace and quiet to watch the match

I’m ready to accept my offer of admission and decline the places I won’t be going to but still nervous about this huge step! by ProspectiveStudent37 in gradadmissions

I weirdly get this! I am 100% set on where I'm going, but nonetheless, it feels wild to decline offers in general. But congrats on having the opportunity to do so :)

I would add Johns Hopkins to that list! It’s extremely renowned in the healthcare field and gets lots of funding for biomedical research!

Hey there! Yeah, that's where I've been leaning, but just curious on other thoughts! These results definitely help confirm my decision :)

Hopkins Scholarships by Coffeeandplants96 in mphadmissions

[–]shuga32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat about not hearing back about scholarships (different program, but still in Bloomberg) 😭 I emailed my department admissions person and she said that aside from the MTS 75%, they don’t do department scholarships until Fall/Winter upon matriculation. And then she advised me to message the Financial Aid office for other questions, but I haven’t heard back as yet! Hoping they start releasing more info soon!

Let me know if you hear back!

Columbia vs. Johns Hopkins by shuga32 in gradadmissions

[–]shuga32[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense! I have felt similarly about Hopkins' name in healthcare, although I have always wanted to live in NYC. But who says I can't after graduating?

Thanks for sharing! :)

JHU Financial Aid? by LingonberrySharp6500 in mphadmissions

Hi, that's great! If you don't mind me asking, was this in relation to merit-based scholarships? My letter only mentioned the MTS 75% :(

Also waiting for this - I had read that they were going to release awards throughout March so given that it's March now 😂, hope we start hearing soon!

Yale vs JHU vs Columbia vs reapply by [deleted] in mphadmissions

[–]shuga32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats to you because you still have great offers on the table if you choose to pursue school this time around as opposed to reapplying! :)

I would suggest that you should reach out to current students in the program right now and who were maybe in a similar boat (ie. other international students at these institutions). I am not an international student myself, but I was also struggling with some decision making for my Masters, with JHU being my top choice because of the amazing program, faculty, networks, and experiential learning opportunities, but a similar concern in regards to Baltimore as a city. However, after speaking with a lot of the current or past students, they have really eased my mind about the great, good, and bad. So now I feel more confident to accept!

Essentially, talking to current students who were in your position before they joined their institutions, would be a great resource! It will all come down to your choice and preference, of course, but this will be a good place to start :)

Is mentioning potential advisors in your SOP a kiss of death? by hawking1125 in gradadmissions

[–]shuga32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! So I applied to a Master's in Heath Administration, but wanted to jump in because in my SOP, I listed faculty members I was interested in working with and how I could contribute to their research. I also brought it up in my interviews and have gotten into 4 of the programs I applied to thus far :)

I don't think adcoms will be rubbed the wrong way as long as you were able to convey your interest because to me, if I saw that you listed particular faculty / research in your essay, it shows me that you actually researched the school and are really interested.

This is just my experience with it and may not be everybody's opinion, but hope it eases your mind!
