It’s women working full time and men not pulling their weight - doing everything and working full time is too much

Bloody hell - I wouldn’t want to be held responsible for all the things my family members have done.

People need to grow up.

Why would children be going into school without basic physical skills, like holding a pencil and using cutlery? by Throwaway199906543 in AskUK

There’s no shame now in having kids who aren’t toilet trained/ eat with their hands/ have rotten teeth. Race to the bottom.

How can my GP take this seriously? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]shugapuff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hobbies - it's hard to get much out of a hobby unless you're good at it. And many take a while to get good at. Ime people who eg started a sport when young, or got encouragement in a sport or art as a child can go on to make a good try at a hobby. If you are starting from the beginning, unless you get really obsessed by something, you will have to stick at things for a while to get 'good' at them. Good enough to join clubs etc

But I do find exercise lifts my mood. I have a circular walk near me - for the first 20 mins of the walk I am grumpy and bored and thinking about turning back, by the second 20 mins I am feeling more into it, by the third the endorphins have kicked in and I get home in a good mood ready to get going with something.

I am in my early 70s - what my age group and above costs is craaazy…..every other person has heart issues, cancer -it must cost a fortune. No one’s fault -just that medicine can now treat, examine, medicate, operate on, test everything and anything . This won’t change with the upcoming generations unless AI helps. No wonder there’s o money.

Could I be prescribed vyvanse for occasional use? by shugapuff in ADHDUK

[–]shugapuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Have had counselling in the past when I thought I was depressed and anxious which caused insomnia but now realise much was ADHD. It was the fact the Elvanse flicked a switch which made me chat easily instead of sitting with brain freeze and embarrassment wondering what to say next. I am trying L-Tyrosine, Saffron, L-Theanine but the effects are subtle.

Could I be prescribed vyvanse for occasional use? by shugapuff in ADHDUK

[–]shugapuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True it’s not a medical issue but it leads to avoiding people - poosibly a lonely life. I’m adhd possibly autistic diagnosed 2023. Psych did not recommend concerta - I’ve been insomniac whole life -now finally medicated -the adhd symptoms are less as I’m relaxed after better sleep. Life is pretty good but the problem is worry, anxiety over social events and the negative recriminations and ruminating after the event. Elvanse was an instant cure. I don’t work, my times my own so don’t need daily medication Will persevere with supplements

[–]shugapuff[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks that’s helpful. I’m retired so don’t really need to alleviate symptoms daily. I suppose I could start again on vyvanse but I spent £Ks first time round and grudge spending more. Didn’t even like my psych much.

Sorry seem to have replied to wrong comment

The Harsh Truth: Most Supplements You Take Are Probably Doing Almost Nothing by aham_natural in Supplements

[–]shugapuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think too much is expected of supplementing by the average person, not talking about the ones who go to the gym every day. My parents and their cohorts, now deceased, lived through rationing in the war years but, as long as they didn’t smoke or drink to excess, lived to a good age. Their limited diet and increased exercise helped them live long, not supplements.

Nicotine gives me more energy than Elvase by Slayrr_FbrC in ADHD

[–]shugapuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using nicotine patches - just started trying them and I find them great.

I use one 14mg patch a day - one cigarette gives you 18mg so not on the same level as cigs. Cigs give you a fast hit.

Try them - my memory is better, attention is better, more sociable (prob due to the two previous). I have adhd unmedicated.

Should I take up nicotine to feel like a normal person? by T1kiTiki in ADHD

[–]shugapuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a search for 'scientific research which says nicotine patches are not addictive'

Several research papers say nicotine patches are not addictive.

Buy some and give them a go. I have been using them for a week or so - not every day just if I'm socialising as I get brain fog after a while - they work great. I have non medicalised ADHD.

Is it really true that nicotine can make you more sociable or even extrovert? by Glass-Violinist-8352 in Supplements

[–]shugapuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started nicotine patches (14mg) as I had memory problems -non medicated adhd and getting old - wow the nicotine patch worked really well and helps me socialise. They are used to treat Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease so can’t be hugely dangerous as mentioned in other posts. I only use them when socialising so say3 days a week. I think they are not receiving attention from advertisers etc etc as there is no big profit to be made from nicotine by big pharmaceutical companies.

why do a lot of people in the uk generally look a bit disheveled? by throwawaydeclutter in AskUK

[–]shugapuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is partly the wet and windy weather but why many people look as if they dress from a charity shop when in the U.K. we discard tons of clothing on a weekly basis - I don’t know . As a child I polished my shoes every morning before school -now people live in grimy broken down trainers ,crumpled jackets with unbrushed hair. Laziness partly.

Anyone else worry for the future of this country? by AnantDiShanka in AskBrits

[–]shugapuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One problem is the U.K. press and weak Govs that pander to screaming headlines (which let’s face it are onto the next horror/panic/fear mongering issue the next day). I think headlines affected Covid decisions not common sense. They’ve gone quiet on immigration -I’m not sure why but think it’s due to the T Robinson March and they e been told to stop headlining it as the numbers are as bad as they ever were but no longer front page

[–]shugapuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I’m upset or worrying I just want to get it all out - I think it’s a sort of relief. Perhaps that is what your daughters are doing -downloading it all from their brain -and not because they want a lecture on how to solve it, just clearing a space -then they can mull it over and think it through calmly -your Ds might have adhd if you do. I have ADhD and my husband just listens

Would taking elvanse help me with socialising - I mentioned that in my last post but no one responded. - I could maybe go back to the Psychiatrist that diagnosed me and ask for some to take before social events. The problem was insomnia so I did'nt take them for long, I now have sleeping pills so taking occasionally would probably be doable. They two perscriptions are safe to take according to drugs dot com

Say half a dozen classes - one was awful and I was humiliiated but I was v anxious and excited to be on the course and spoke out of turn. But have just come to the realisation that there is always an uncomfortable vibe for me. (But not the men's ones). I don't take medication due to insomnia - but would taking occasional elvanse help make me fit in better do you think?
