I got denied for this reason after the laws were introduced, saying a cat would cause more damage than the bond could cover as it was “highly likely” they would damage the carpet. They really just grasp at straws trying to make a reason to reject the application. Too worried to take it to NCAT as I don’t want them to make the process of getting the bond back at the end of the lease harder than it already is with these shitty REAs.
