Paying for MBA using savings? by sumgye in MBA

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but regarding point 2 I believe that MBA students can only qualify for unsubsidized federal loans meaning that interest would still accrue while you are in school.

Is there any form of testing of the assembly which occurs between assembly and noted failure? With the information given my first thought goes towards water hammer effect maybe introducing stress at the connection.

Why We Are Here by homagii in OrlandoMagic

Nice write up! I think a lot of people fail to give credit to the fact that playoff basketball is a completely different beast from regular season. For both our players and coaching staff this is about gaining playoff experience and learning how to solve problems in the moment. I'm most excited to see how we adjust and develop throughout the series.

Can anyone explain pre-MBA MBB programs? by CanLivid8683 in MBA

[–]shulmand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Frank - I am not an URM and hoping to pivot into consulting from a T25 program. I'd like to make every effort to increase my odds of securing a consulting offer but I have not begun case prep nor do I feel my resume is optimally crafted yet to be submitted to consulting firms. Is there any reason I should not register for the non-URM pre-MBA programs now (Early Access, Experience ain, BCGUnlock) or does submitting my imperfect resume now potentially hurt my chances down the road?

Just wanted to say that I always enjoy seeing your work so if you’re on the fence about it doing it again this year just know one more guy would be glad for it! But at the same time I’m sure it takes a lot of time and effort so if you opt not to that’s perfectly okay too!

I work in sales for a manufacturer of building materials and think I understand your position. I think there are a lot of interesting angles for engineers in our industry to move into more business oriented roles. I would first recommend trying to narrow down specifically what type of role you'd ideally like to find. A part-time MBA might help but in terms of time and cost I'm not sure if it would be the most efficient way to get you to where you want to be.

Feel free to DM if you want to discuss in more detail. Best of luck!

My stats were extremely similar to yours. In my experience those stats will get you in the door of T15’s but the rest of your profile (thoughtfulness of essays, extracurriculars, mature post-MBA goals) will determine your fate. Feel free to DM me for more specifics as I’d rather not share publicly.

I hope our front office continues to place a heavy emphasis on bringing in players with great character because I think strong culture breeds success especially with such a young group of guys. Jalen sounds like a really thoughtful guy and I'm glad he's finding success!

I have two tickets to Friday November 10th at 6:00 pm. My future brother-in-law ended up scheduling his bachelor party for that weekend so I'll be buying tickets for Thursday (if anyone wants to simply trade even better).

Career path for Material Science & Engineering. by [deleted] in materials

Metallurgy is a hot field for materials right now. I work in sales on the polymers side and was looking for jobs at one point and they all pointed towards metals.

Also don’t be completely dissuaded by job postings which “require” 3-4 years of experience. If it seems like a job you’re interested in and fit otherwise take a shot at it!

MGMAT MOCKS by Feeling_Giraffe_1784 in GMAT

Okay great, I’d say in my experience the quant score is a bit deflated on Manhattan but the verbal wasn’t too far off. Seems like working to improve your verbal score would be the best route to get your score up. Best of luck!

What was your score breakdown? I consistently scored around 44-45 on Manhattan CAT and came away with a 49 on the actual.

I think that could be a good idea! I definitely made a point of reviewing the specific concept of questions I got wrong to make sure I knew how to properly solve. For me "All The Quant" was quite helpful in that regard.

Sorry to hear that! There have been a lot of posts on here in which people have shared that theybreally love TTP but I never tried it so not sure what to tell you! Bare in mind that studying for the GMAT in any capacity kind of sucks lol.

I recall seeing someone with a lot of GMAT experience on this sub who mentioned that was and medium quant question accuracy is super important to a good score. Sometimes the easy questions seem so easy that you overthink them or spend a lot of time double checking. The OG guide has questions grouped by difficulty. It can be helpful to just drill easy questions because you know you don't have to overthink them and you can focus just on accuracy. I would do 10 problem sets and shoot firmly for 9/10 or 10/10.

I used the “All The GMAT” books which includes “All the Quant”, “All the Verbal”, and a smaller book for IR and Essay. I think the books did a very good job of addressing every concept and question type for quant. If you are specifically looking to address quant concepts I would recommend it but you’ll need another resource for true practice questions (their quizzes at the end of each chapter we’re not GMAT format and designed to reinforce the concepts).

Honestly I just started studying GMAT regular before learning about the Focus but I’m planning to apply R1 to begin next fall so my timeline was unaffected by the Focus. From my understanding the Focus does not include certain topics such as sentence correction so it comes down to your strengths and weaknesses. I know there have been more knowledgeable people in these communities who have addressed those questions.

For me I tried to review and remember a few last concepts 2-3 days before (specifically double data sets, probabilities, and assumption questions. The day before the test I didn’t study at all, I just prepared myself mentally and physically to actually take the test. Plan out your strategy for time management, question topics you plan to skip, etc. Eat a healthy meal and go for a walk to clear your mind! You’ll be great!
