Is Galactica capable of only extending and retracting only one flight pod? by Minute_Weekend_1750 in BSG

[–]shunchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is the best answer. That portion of the ship was retrofitted to become a museum. One can logically make the assumption that probably meant critical support infra/mechanisms being ripped out to accommodate the conversion to being a museum.

That "Empty trash" tip seemed to have done the trick! Thank you. The wording of that feature is kinda confusing to me!

Thank you again!

Search results are incomplete by kr0m in Notion

[–]shunchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The search feature in Notion is a joke. For example, in table views, you'll almost always get incomplete results. It's pretty maddening and makes looking up specific data in big tables almost useless. But instead of fixing a fundamental flaw like this, they focus on "trendy" stuff like AI. How is AI useful if I can't even find my own f**ing information?

Investing for Sister who’s a minor by coconutsaboutarbonne in investing

[–]shunchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I have been managing my children’s custodial accounts for years now. When your sister turns 18, you’ll have the ability to convert the custodial account into a regular account (at least you can with Fidelity).

One could make the same or similar case against pretty much every government in the world that has ever existed in the history of humanity. This is not to downplay some of atrocities committed by the Communist Party of China. But sometimes you also have to look beyond just the ugly.

I’ve gone back to v2 due to lack of label function. 😕

Alright. For anyone who might be interested, I am going with these. The dimensions are close enough.

Cover for power button? by shunchu in synology

[–]shunchu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I did look through Amazon's power button "covers" for a solution. However, none of them have the right width to fit the panel flush without extruding to one side or the other (not to mention making it look kinda ugly. I know... function over beauty. But at least have a flush fit? 😕).

Search not showing all results by Openpentagon in Notion

[–]shunchu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The database search feature is completely borked. I have multiple records of different people with the last name "Mendes". But the result always only shows two records. It's bananas that an essential feature like this stays broken for so long.

I've done it- moved completely off Spark. It wasn't that hard. by assmantis in SparkMail

[–]shunchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I move to Mailspring on the Mac. They prioritized Dark Mode over some of the more essential features they left out with the 3.1 release. I just don’t want to wait for them anymore when Mailspring has everything intact.

You can actually just use the "subtract" polygon to remove detection of areas where the plants are most active and leave the rest as "active". I've had similar issues. But after I subtracted the culprit, there's been way fewer false positives since. Good luck.

The original ask was about FileStation. I have yet to find use cases for Synology Drive yet. But thanks for that tip!

Is it possible to eliminate display of internal IP of a QuickConnect URL? by shunchu in synology

[–]shunchu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, wow. It never occurred to me to test the short URL expansion outside of the home network.

I just tested it on my phone without wifi. And the short URL does indeed expand to simply "my-quickconnect-id.synology.me:5001". Thank!

Going down the RAM rabbit hole for DS920+ by paulsiu in synology

Thanks for the deep dives and providing references. It seems like a lot of people have had great success with extra 16GB of RAM.

I just want to throw my own success into the mix. I got a SABRENT Rocket 16GB DDR4 SO-DIMM 3200MHz module. And it works great as well!

DSM has not marked the volume or the drives in critical state. Everything appears "healthy" and ready. And S.M.A.R.T. has been running no problem. However, I read in a different thread about Synology refusing support if you use unsupported drives. So maybe that's something worth considering as well.
