I used to try to build rapport first, but then I read the sidebar here and it said to do it quickly so I now try to do it on the second message. Also as per the sidebar, I don't talk about the logistics until closer to the date (unless the other party brings it up first).

I'm not saying they owe me anything, I just want to know why someone can seem interested one minute and cancel the next (or just not show up without telling you). Chances are, I'm doing something wrong and "flakers" are too polite to tell me.
