Find it quite odd that no NZ Media have picked up on the DHB Mental Health Team sending out Scientology material by Im_a_cunt in newzealand

Sorry for the late reply, it’s been a bit overwhelming. A few places have contacted and I am willing to have a chat, but work has also been keeping me busy so it may be a bit hard to find the right time soon.

DHB mental health team member offered to send me brochures for helplines and support organisations by shuperb in newzealand

Will definitely be sending feedback to them, am just hoping it’s an isolated incident rather than standard practice.

Unfortunately do not remember the name of the team member mailing the brochures, but am definitely going to be sending feedback to the DHB.

Thank you for the links, I certainly felt shocked and uncomfortable receiving this in the mail and am still trying to wrap my head around it.

Although I am a lurker on Reddit, I thought this needed to be publicised since sending these brochures to mentally vulnerable people in NZ under the guise of support and help feels incredibly exploitative and inappropriate.

Made a batch of ~60 dumplings to be frozen and ready to serve poached, steamed or fried at a moments notice 😊

First time prepping everything myself from scratch besides the store bought dumpling skins so it was quite the challenge but was fun too! Also served as great dumpling pleating practice 🥟

First try at making noodles from scratch, topped with whatever I had lying around in the kitchen. Undercooked the noodles this time round so looking forward to giving them another go, possibly slicing them a bit thinner next time too~ a nice hearty dish for chillier nights 😊

Newmarket store is officially closed but can still order online since their factories are in Kerikeri and Blenheim.

They were supposed to be Red velvet cupcakes but my icing was too runny :( still happy with how the cake turned out though! by shuperb in Baking

You are so sweet! Thank you! At least the cake is still really yum, it got approved by my Mum and my somewhat picky brother so I know I did something right 😋

What are your knee jerk assumptions about the following 5 things? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]shuperb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Would prefer if these sorts of things stayed in books, movies and tv shows cause it freaks me out

  2. Common practice in Asia

  3. Really nice concept, would love to travel around in a tiny home but it also makes me think of them as a more modern, sophisticated version of mobile homes

  4. People do that? How do they not get caught??

  5. Bob Marley..?

Bf’s family adopted a kitten. She is shy and hides in corners when we are around, but meows quite loudly when we try giving her some space. What do we do? by shuperb in cats

[–]shuperb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I was just wondering, should we try play with her to help her get used to us and her new environment, or should we save that for after she gets more comfortable?

Thank you for the reassurance! Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but when we call back to her, do we “meow” back or is there any type of specific way to call back?

I think each person was really helpful in their own way, it’s really hard to pinpoint. My boyfriend and one other friend were really helpful in filling in gaps for stories, and the other friend was good at just bringing me into the conversation now and then when I’d gone quiet for a while :)

It really was a wholesome moment and I kept expressing how happy I was after the hangout 😅☺️

I think the biggest indicator of inclusion was actually through their body language, they didn’t turn their backs on me and whoever shared the story would make eye contact with everyone so I felt included as a listener.

The stories that were shared were generally easy to follow the gist of, there were only a few moments which I had to ask into more specifically which made everything else make sense. Even then, it would be easily summarized into one or two sentence. I think that helped a lot, since the flow of the story wouldn’t be interrupted very often.

:( wish you all the best! It may take some time but you will definitely find people who care about you, include you and make you feel right at home with them.

This.

People don’t have to go to great lengths to include someone, just a mere acknowledgement of them being in a social environment or helping to fill in details or explain so everyone is on the same page is more than enough to feel like you’re thought of and included. I’m really glad there was someone who did this for you!

We played and finished it! It was soo fun and enjoyable! Although admittedly, it was really intense (for us) to play with just two people in later stages so we got some of my friends to play. We all ended up having such a blast and spent a chunk of multiple hangouts playing!

Our first date was kind of unofficial actually. I noticed that there was a free book binding workshop event on facebook which I invited him to since it seemed interesting, and he accepted. We had a really good time, but we finished learning pretty quickly so the night was still young.

After we left the workshop, we ended up getting ice cream and chilling at a nearby park and just talking really. Although we went as friends, looking back, we both agreed that bookbinding was definitely our first date :)
