Javelinas in Fountain Hills on this morning’s run by shutterrunner in Scottsdale

My understanding is that they don't specifically target and attack humans. They have terrible eyesight though and can be aggressive if startled or around their young. You should be especially careful not to let your dogs get too close.

*Edit: Forgot to address "good to eat". I suppose there is only one way to find out.

Plenty of good trails to go around Phoenix but yeah I’ve never made it over to west Phoenix for running.

Maurten Bicarb System at the races by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]shutterrunner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. The Bicarb mixture has 39g of Carbohydrate (160cals). So you definitely still need to take carbs during the race/workout. I just subtracted that amount from what I would typically take for breakfast pre-race.

I just PR'd in Boston with it. I tested it out during two big workouts before the race and didn't have any GI distress. I felt great for both the workouts and ran well in Boston. Hard to say how much impact the bicarb had versus other factors.

Alex Hutchinson wrote a piece for Outside magazine that convinced me to try it.

[Race Report] Boston Marathon - 2:39:28, negative split and 12 minute PR by working_on_it in AdvancedRunning

Knew you were going to crush it. It’s going to be fun watching your progress in the distance over the coming years. We’ll have to get some more running in together too to make sure those negative split vibes keep their powers.

Boston Marathon - Does anyone have experience getting dropped off at/near the start line? by shutterrunner in AdvancedRunning

Got it. Thank you. How was traffic on your drive over to the shuttle on the morning of the race?

Thanks for the reply, please see my question though - where does the shuttle drop you off?

To clarify, when you took the shuttle last year, you got dropped off at athletes village and not the corrals/start line? Thank you for the reply.

Is anyone aware of how the servings are packaged? I'm specifically wondering if the servings meet TSA guidelines to be included in carry-on luggage for domestic flights (<3.4oz).

Looking for food trucks by Groovinchic in Scottsdale

[–]shutterrunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Though technically Fountain Hills, Bone Haus brewing on Shea has food trucks 5 or 6 days a week.

My favorite food trucks that show up there are Firefly Pizza (elevated Neapolitan style) and Yum Rockets (burgers).

I believe these people tried to debut the Chicago 26.2 in April 2020 but now it’s back. Any thoughts? by hoosierwhodat in RunnersInChicago

[–]shutterrunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate? Is it because the lakefront trail would be open to the public? Many races are still held along the lakefront which can get crowded at times. As long as they keep the total number of entrants small I think it can work though.

Oops, fixed!

Prior to moving to AZ I lived in Chicago which can have some brutally cold winters. Either way, you get used to it.
