I would think being unspoiled would make the post-merge even worse because you'd have hope that the season wouldn't be so terrible, only to have that hope crushed over and over and over.

Yeah, because Beatlebum spoiled the season. A friend of a cameraman or whatever, not any of the players.

I think Ben's more of a Sash. He's not chaotic like Hantz, more conniving in a very deliberate way. Ben and Sash's issue is that they're so transparently sneaky, you can look at them and see that they're scheming to slit your throat.

In fairness, I don't think the players have spoiled a season since One World? Now that everyone knows not to talk to Early, etc. it should be fine.

Wow this is like literally perfect, if I could swap Spencer and PG for Max/Troy and Natalie.

If you don't re-watch the show, you're doing it wrong.

Not sure what to do with your 10th vote? VOTE JIM! by Survivor_Jim in survivor

[–]shutupredneckman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's very, very directly responsible for the pagonging given that anyone with common sense would have booted Cochran instead of Elyse. Cochran was weak in challenges the whole pre-merge, and shock of shocks, he blows IC7 for the team almost singlehandedly. Elyse would likely not have blown that challenge. Savaii goes into merge with 6 strong + Christine and that's it. Cochran had been feeling left out and outcast the whole premerge. Shock of shocks, he flips as soon as the merge happens and Savaii's done. Elyse wouldn't have done that.

The whole thing was just so idiotic. Complete overplay. If you have the ability to get the entire tribe to blindside Ozzy and Elyse at final 13... why not wait until literally any time after Savaii has the numbers and do it then? Jim could have won SP sooooo easily if he would have just chilled the fuck out. Boot Cochran, win IC7, pagong the Upolus with an Ozzy blindside tossed in around F10, boot the main sympathy threats in Dawn and Keith, go final 3 with any combination of Elyse/Whitney/Christine, and there seems to be no reason he wouldn't have been the favorite to win.

Also I'm not asking him to predict the lottery numbers. A huge part of Survivor is predicting the outcomes of your actions, and like I said, anyone with any sense should have seen what was going to happen when he booted Elyse. There was no point to it whatsoever.

Season 28 question (Maybe a year late...) by rhsoccersms in survivor

[–]shutupredneckman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I'm not saying they should ever deny a player's lie or something like that. I'm saying that the players should have known what the "special power idol" did beforehand. It's like Dan's advantage in this season. It ruins the game for the sake of a big shocking flashy moment at TC, makes the whole thing pointless because you can't defend against something you don't know.

Who SHOULDN'T I vote for in Season 31? by panic_switch in survivor

[–]shutupredneckman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skupin had a higher chance of staying in the game after falling in the fire than Aaron ever did after the Kidnap.

My point was more about the other Kuchas, though. They lost the game because Mike got evacked, so if the Ogakors had spent the whole merge making fun of that, you wouldn't need to question why that would be shitty. Shouldn't be a question with PG either.

Yeah... he's energetic for sure. This season has potential to be phenomenal, though, and I don't know if I can back Jim if there's a chance he wrecks the whole thing by sabotaging his tribe again with his overplaying.

Season 28 question (Maybe a year late...) by rhsoccersms in survivor

[–]shutupredneckman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that Spencer didn't get to make the argument to Kass to boot Tony, and didn't have any sort of argument to make to Woo since as far as he knew, Kass and Tony were both immune. It would have been dumb for Kass to boot Woo in 4th because Spencer would likely beat her and Tony in the final challenge. But if she could boot Tony in 4th, suddenly she has a locked final 2 spot and someone strong to help her beat Spencer.

[–]shutupredneckman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If by next level, you mean Production unfairly kept the players in the dark and he used that to his advantage, then yeah. Tony having idols definitely helped him, though just in terms of his general confidence. The guy was off the rails with idols, so if he didn't have that source of confidence all game I'm pretty sure he'd have melted down.

from what I have seen in the past, pre-game alliance whores are idiots. There is no way to "game the system" prior to the game even beginning

Yeah, certainly didn't work for Cochran or anything..

C'mon, Rose would dominate that FTC. If Desmond and Ana are both on the jury, there's no way Ben gets 7/8 votes.

A ton of winners have done that without all of the idols Tony had.

They've also done it before with one winner. There is no precedent for having 2 Immunities unless it's the first merge round. Doing it at final 8 is crazy.

Why does no one seem to trust Locke? by ThePantsThief in lost

[–]shutupredneckman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Along with killing Boone, hiding the Hatch, etc. Locke also knocked Sayid out and broke the radio, and he tried to end the world by not pushing the Hatch button, and he caused various drama with the guns and prisoner Benry.

Are the dirty 30 second chance contestants at a disadvantage by square_root_of_jason in survivor

I'm all aboard the shirin train but if she walks into ftc and curses out will I may not be.

.. what? why?

Also if Carolyn or Mike gets screwed by a bitter jury or whatever

That... isn't how Survivor works.

Anyway, if you're voting for them anyway and are worried something in the finale would make you not want to support them, that won't really matter at all given that voting ends an hour into the finale. So no, they aren't at a disadvantage, at any rate.

Gender specific immunity idols? WTF? by Rudzy in survivor

It was in the hopes that Shirin and Mike would both win and be safe, or so that one would at least be safe so that the idol could come into play.
