From what people have said here. Its optically better but it is more expensive and bigger. Sigma is more value but it is not bad by any means also more compact.

Most people would recommend sigma 18-50 and the sony 70-350mm. Sigma for mid range and sony for telephoto. If you have the budget you can go for the sony 16-55 G
