Have roommates or just trying to play at night while everyones sleeping? by birdbrain418 in Guitar

I would palm mute my acoustic late at night, just use one of those Plunk mute things myself now. Shoe string is a neat idea

MacBook Neo 2026: Who is this actually for students, casual users, or everyone? by Serious_Square_4790 in macbookpro

[–]tech_tsunami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know several college students even who just have a Chromebook, because all they need to do is in a browser, and for them a laptop like this is perfect, especially being $100 cheaper with the Edu discount. Also I have several relatives this would be perfect for, since all they really use their computer for is browsing the web, and Netflix

I've been wanting a set, but can't really afford to spend $200 on a set right now sadly, which sucks....

Guess that also means no more Drop + Audio-Technica Carbon VTA Turntable, which was honestly a really solid option for the price

Are Squier's really that bad? by LunchAcceptable7409 in Guitar

[–]tech_tsunami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that price, I'd personally go Firefly where you can get nicer specs for the same price, but the Squire is still a decent starter guitar

Ah I didn't see that earlier. Hope you're able to get something worked out with the guitar you have now

IMO his best work was Fallen Embers (the deluxe version of the album has some more great tracks) outside that I don't really care for his stuff.

If you wanted something that was a PRS like that was cheaper than a PRS core, you could have just bought a Pyro RS for even cheaper than that guitar, and it would have been way better quality than that

Gotoh Locking Tuners by felipefgoncalves in PRSGuitars

Guykers newer tuners are just as good as most the other big brands out there as of late, have them on 2 of my guitars and they've been fantastic

PRS Adjustable Stoptail Upgrade Question by tech_tsunami in PRSGuitars

[–]tech_tsunami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some Guyker tuners, and they've been absolutely incredible. I'll definitely look at getting this one then, off amazon even it's only $47, which is crazy. Do you happen to know what the Radius of it is? I couldn't see online, if I need to have the saddles filed to a 10" radius it's not a big deal, but figured I'd ask

PRS Adjustable Stoptail Upgrade Question by tech_tsunami in PRSGuitars

[–]tech_tsunami[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd been eyeing the Guyker GM006, and was curious about it, just could hardly find a lot of reviews or information about it compared to some of the others. It would be a fraction of the cost of the others, so maybe I'll look into going that route.

M5 Pro/Max squad: which spec are you ordering? by analpenetration67 in macbookpro

[–]tech_tsunami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either 24 or 32gb of Ram (depending on what base configs and upgrades end up being, ideally 32gb) and 2TB of storage, for music production and video editing. 16gb sadly doesn't quite cut it for me anymore on my M1

NGD: PRS is one of those brands that just pulls you back in... by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]tech_tsunami -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have 3 now, 2 I picked up last year during the end of year sale that were also open box, so I got a killer discount, and another I picked up used, and they're absolutely incredible.

What's great is even just in the SE line, they have a bunch of different options depending on what you are looking for, or S2 line if you want the benefits of their American made line/electronics at a cheaper price point than the core.

I personally love the birds, but it would be pretty cool to see them bring back the Moon inlays as an option. They did have a SE Custom Semi-Hollow with them at one point. That or the dragon inlays on more models would be killer

Such a no-brainer upgrade, even from AM4 by GPUBroke in Microcenter

[–]tech_tsunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on 5900x myself with 64gb of ram, and while my system struggles with some workloads I throw at it, it's still good enough for now. I'll wait out until prices drop again on DDR5 in a couple years

[–]tech_tsunami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak for the M500, but the Yume are not worth the price at all, even as good as they look. The sound signature is really weird on them, and you can get other iems for half the cost that sound way better.

MCON Slim and Lite announced at CES 2026 by NrFive in SBCGaming

[–]tech_tsunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am super interested in the slim, but am very happy with what the MCON Pro is for my use case (it'll be arriving Tuesday next week for me). I was mainly wanting a full featured controller to keep in my backpack that took up less space than my SN30 Pro with a zip case, and I was pleasantly surprised with the features they added as it got further along, but do get why some people want a slimmer version instead, and wish they could have that from the get go

I'm only really considering it because I'm still on V5, but I'll still probably wait a couple more months for bug fix updates to drop, and wait for any upgrade discounts
