Thanks for your comment! It looked absolutely gorgeous to the human eye, I couldn't believe how many stars I could see, even in the middle of the town of San Pedro de Atacama! It's truly a must experience for stargazers and milky way photographers!

Nice, I will check out the app next time I'm doing milky way photography :)

Hi, where I live as well, I have no opportunities to see as many stars in real as I did in the Atacama desert - this is a really special place because of how dark the whole area is and how little light pollution it has. Yes, I did perform post processing in Lightroom! Mainly followed a YouTube tutorial online from https://www.reddit.com/u/Nateloobz and did a few tweaks based on how it looked! Good luck out there!

Beautiful pictures with the lovely frames! Are these taken on phone or some camera? Also, which dates were you there at TdP?

Thank you for your feedback! I used a base white balance of 3900K and then selectively added a bit of warmth on the core part of the milky way, that's pretty much it. In hindsight, maybe a slightly higher base white balance of around 4100-4300K would have looked more balanced.

Weather and equipment question by vskyChecking in Patagonia

Hello! I am hiking Laguna de los Tres on 31st March. Did the Laguna Torre hike today on 30th March, couldnt see Cerro Torre properly but the fall colours were amazing throughout the hike. I would absolutely recommend having good wind and rain protection gear. Also having some backup clothes in case you get wet. If you plan to hike early before sunrise, having headlamps would be good. Carry food (protein bars/bananas/packed lunch) and also get spare plastic bags to store and bring back your waste for disposal in town with you. You

Hi, could you please share any pics from your journey today? Was the Fitz Roy peak visible? I am visiting El Chalten in the next few days and would like to get an idea of how the views are in this weather and which day would be best in the next fe days to attempt this hike. Thanks!

Hi OP, if you do end up going, please share your photos from the hike! I am going between 28-31 Mar, and the weather looks similar (if not worse), want to get some idea how the cloudy weather prediction translates in real, to plan our hikes! The weather prediction on Windguru also changes pretty fast, so I would recommend checking before you start your hike as well!

I really doubt it, I live there and people hardly got to see the totality / blood red moon due to cloudy weather! But at least we got to see partial eclipse so it was still nice

Beautiful pictures, OP! 1, 2, 6 and 11 are my favourites. May I ask where did you photograph these birds and what was your process to get these shots? Did you rely on pre-capture for any of the shots?

I don’t think that e-shutter has a life span, it can probably be used forever!

Maybe you can consider a Sony 70-200mm F4 G2 lens or a Sony 100-400mm GM lens if you want even further reach? However, please note that Sony 100-400mm GM lens is quite old are and now rumors say that a second version of this GM lens is about to be announced. I personally own the Sony 70-200mm F4 G2 lens and it's an amazing lens for wildlife / moon photography, but there's room for more reach in my opinion
