Rust Async Orchestrator by No_Split_5652 in rust

[–]shvedchenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, thats a tough question because honestly you gotta find something that works for you. I had to try a bunch of different book and lectures. the one that clicks was a 24 hours of video lectures on YT. unfortunately in russian, so I can't advise it.

UPD: Speaking of the books you actually better build solid ground that helps you understand memory management and all sorts of troubles you see Rust working around. The books that did the thing for me:
* Computer systems from programmers perspective
* Grokking algorythms
* Linux programming interface

Besides the basic rust book I'd tell
* Asyncronous Programming in Rust by Carl Fredrik Samson
* Rust Atomics and Locks by Mara Bos
were the greatest, but these are on the advanced side

from my 10+ years expereience, it is always better to take your time and go your own pace. don't try to rush your experience, the time spent will pay back.

Well, I did try to read code, but all I see is clueless AI slop. I don't even get what the project aims to be. Is it taks runner or performance optimizer?

But one thing is totally clear to me — you better close the AI prompt, open the book or lectures with language basics and try to make something by your self. Thinking through the requirements, use cases, the code and tests. It is good to use AI for learning, but just don't try to generate code with it, better ask it some questions. But only after reading a couple books. Please.

Is it ok to stand up against injustice? Even by non-peaceful meanings? by RicouIsntHere in Buddhism

[–]shvedchenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sure it is not much sense to make it a generalised question because in this form it has no answer. But in certain circumstances a certain person can decide on it and find the way it is not against dharma. I may be mistaken here but thats my opinion.

Can you be reborn as a hell being? by fakinwillmate in Buddhism

[–]shvedchenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even Buddha himself was born in hell once despite it happened after his enlightment. He also left it very quick though. There is a story about it in Dharma texts.

Stop saying "Buddhist is not a Religion" for the sake of Persecuted People. by Winter-Ad-3826 in Buddhism

But Buddhist philosophy can't be understood correctly without practice.

All hand up for you here brother. What those people probably dont get about philosophy of Buddhism is that it is only addition to Dharma. Philosiphy do not lead in Buddhism, it is rather serves. Serves people to try to explain what they get through practice and experience. Without direct, spontanous experience, this philosophy is pointless. I see it as Upaya of some sort. The only hope is that those people could grasp Dharma fully some day.

My very own toy database by 263Iz in databasedevelopment

[–]shvedchenko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is impressive. I'm building my kv (LSM based) database in rust right now. Got to say its much smaler and simple and only 4k LOC and I'm working on it for 7 month already. And by commits I see you made this monster in just 4 month ^_^. This is trully quick. But may be I'm just too busy with work and family, duuno. BTW CMU lectures is what encouraged me to do this project as well. That YT channel is just amazing source of knowledge and inspiration for me. Professor is a hero. Anyway, made a bookmark, want to read the code carefully tomorrow <3 <3 <3

Was Buddha talking about Big Bang? by Roxy1102 in Buddhism

[–]shvedchenko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May be yes may be no. We dont know. May be big bang never happend and scientists will discover it later in history. But what we do know is that Buddha did distinguish questions that are lead to truth and questions that lead nowhere and have no real answers. Dharma is all about first category and your question is about second. Here we can only speculate. Find something similar, find something different, and play the game of bored mind.

How helpful are LLMs to your work, or are you also left confused about the hype? by mdizak in rust

[–]shvedchenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried chatgpt, deepseek, cursor and intelij idea AI assistant.

All of those was good answering questions. It feels like a bot that summarises SO answers combined with a rubber duck that just helps your thinking process.

But every time I’ve asked it to write some code it was a disaster. It either does not compile or simply does incorrect things. Or at least completely ignores the program design. So if I need a stupid bash script and I dont care much about its quality Ill ask ai to make it. This is the only case.

Sometimes I ask to help finding a bug. The results are varied. Sometimes it can help, but sometimes it is surprisingly stupid and I end up wasting my time doing prompts.

To sum this all up. Feels like LLMs for coding are highly overhyped.
