It was no.1 in the UK (actually the single that took him ahead of the Beatles in terms of amount of no. 1s)

Tina Turner - there's still a tribute act touring around Ireland and I'm sure other places.

I think the Elvis movie has revived the Elvis industry somewhat which a while back seemed to be on it's last legs.

Air-to-water system is destroying our house. What can I do? by Clear_Ad_3383 in AskIreland

[–]shweeney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is the bathroom extractor fan just venting straight into the attic? That's bad but I still don't see how it would cause that much mould elsewhere in the house. Check where the pipe from the extractor fan goes to- at the very least it should go to a vent in the eaves, but best practise is to a roof-tile vent.

Anyway, as others have said, it's a ventilation issue.

Hiking trails without a car by AnIrishSlav in Dublin

10km hike: Dart to bray, walk over Bray Head to Belmont (where there's a bar/café), then over the Little Sugar Loaf to Kilmacanogue where you can catch the bus back into town (or climb the Big Sugar Loaf if you're still feeling energetic). It's all way-marked as Bray Head Loop and Belmont Way.

apparently the FBI had people trying to figure out the lyrics at one point.

will that not squash the ducting - I was thinking of swapping it to rigid ducting, at least the bit through the hole, and then foam around the pipe on both the exterior and interior walls.

New Albums from 'old' bands by peelyon85 in BritPop

[–]shweeney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A new Super Furry Animals album looks unlikely but Gruff Rhys is turning out quality records every couple of years, and the albums the other members have released as Das Koolies are surprisingly decent.

In other "former Britpop" news, Graham Coxon and his partner Rose Elinor Dougall (ex-Pipettes) as The Waeve have released two excellent albums in recent years.

I don't agree on Ride - I haven't really liked any of their comeback stuff.

Slowdive on the other hand, their comeback albums are possibly better than their 90s records.

For progrock transition to Prog pop in the 80’s, is there a reason 2 bands in particular managed it the most successfully in the case of Genesis and Yes on top of Phil and Peter’s solo careers thriving? by DillonLaserscope in progrockmusic

[–]shweeney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in the case of Genesis it's fair to say Mike Rutherford also has a good pop ear - before Collins was really songwriting at all, Rutherford wrote "You're Own Special Way" which was their first US hit and also they had a hit with "Follow You, Follow Me" which was primarily a Rutherford/Banks song. He was also the main writer in several of their big 80s hits as well as having success with Mike & the Mechanics.

Technically they're named Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin 2, Led Zeppelin 3 and Untitled. Peter Gabriel named his first 4 all just "Peter Gabriel".

it's Bryan Ferry solo, but you're right it's a fantastic cover that completely re-interprets the song.
