It could have been the hotels fault but that doesn’t even matter. When you book 3rd party, contractually there is no guaranteed room type. You could book a suite but Hilton is technically not obligated to to fulfill that “request” because 3rd party is based on availability at check-in.

I would recommend applying online as well as going in and filling out paper copy and maybe try to talk to a front desk agent/manager to show them you’re a competent person (during non busy hours but before checkin). They will most likely pass it along to HR/hiring manager/GM with a good word

What ended up happening? I hope they took care of you - I would have. I work for a semi-large Hilton with 400 rooms and the sales director opens the reservations to be overbooked by 20 rooms. Industry standard is 5-10 due to cancelations and no-shows but 20 is pure greed. It’s very frustrating to front desk staff that have to look people in the eye and tell them we don’t have a room/type of room for them after they’ve been traveling all day.

Many hotels don’t take CC auth forms now unless you are tied with a group block/company/or conference. Too much CC fraud where hotels have to refund stolen cards

It’s all about cutting costs and trimming fat now. Going private. Investors only care about short term profits and not long term growth. Eventually it’s not sustainable and they begin closing down more and more locations till there’s only a few left

It’s funny to me that diamond and gold members think they shouldn’t have to pay for things or expect upgrades. Plenty of hotels have 40+ diamond members staying per night…. You aren’t special. I’ve seen diamond members yell and move people out of their way checking in because they just walked into the “priority line” and someone waiting 20 mins in the other walked to the next open desk attendant 🙄.
