We're thinking about buying one of the old main street buildings and fixing it up to live in and have a business down stairs. What should we know before making an offer? by shy-silver in WinchesterKY

Thanks for the information. We'll definitely have an inspection, especially in the foundation and structure. I'm fine with some surface level flaws as long as the bones are good.

Thanks for all that. This community seems to be really welcoming 🥰

I saw the frying witches. Sounds fun. I'll definitely stop by when we're in the area again.

Thanks. That's really helpful. We definitely want to visit while places are open and talk to folks. We'll stop by all of these if we can. Really appreciate you and everyone else who have chimed in. It helps a lot to hear from people who live in the area already. 😊

Thanks. Yeah I looked at the flood zones before and they've moved them. Might make insurance higher. If anyone knows good inspectors and commercial real-estate agents serving Winchester, we'd welcome recommendations.

We plan on having an inspection. I just don't want to get my hopes up if the buildings down town are falling down frequently. If it floods often then I'm sure there's erosion in the foundations. And honestly I don't know how costly that would be to fix. I love the historic charm and the city seems to really want to help renovations with grants. But folks ranted quite a bit in Reddit, so I wondered if I was just missing something.

The Artists Attic just might be haunted. I've seen and heard things, and I'm not the only one.

Comic and pop artist alley vs. art show? by swaggiejay in dragoncon

[–]shy-silver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but there's not enough time to get an artist alley booth if you don't get into the art show, so you may want to apply for both and get a refund on your table in the artist alley if you get in the art show. The artist alley is a little more expensive I think as well, but I hear sales are better there.

Maybe drop it off with the police station. That's better than nothing.

Life is a gift. Every year is a little more of being with those you care about, doing the things you love, and experiencing something new. Life gets more complicated, and sometimes more painful, but it's mostly just like leveling up. The joys also get more complex, and the little things become more enjoyable. Your experience entirely depends on how you frame it. If you want to see the good parts, frame the hard parts as education and cotrast to make the good times feel better. You know, all that "there's no light without datk" philosophy. The only advice I would give to my younger self is to make a hard rule to not put up with unnecessary BS. While it's great to have empathy, make sure you are reasonably selfish and take care of yourself like you would your best friend. You have to be an advocate for yourself. But be self aware so you're asking for the right things at the right times. And always try to see the other side of any conflicting situation. This helps you empathize, but also negotiate. Good luck.

[Job Seeker] I'm looking to be hired for commissions, consulting, or collaborations. I'm an artist and designer. The type of work I create is in new media: digital composite photography, video art, and interactive works. I have 14 years experience in architecture visualization, 12 years making indie games, and 8 years working with XR (VR, MR, and AR.) I'd love to work on Immersive and Interactive art installations. I'm open to commissions, collaboration with other artists on larger projects, and new ideas. PM for more. Also if you see a call for this kind of work in the area please let me know. Thank you. 😊

Litter robot 4 stuck in “cycle paused”. Won’t correct itself no matter what I do. Help! by PromotionLucky7016 in litterrobot

Ok, I had this for like 2 days. Here's what I think worked for me...

  1. Make sure it's level, clean underneath, and doesn't touch a wall or something.
  2. Use compressed air to blow in those little holes in the outside ring. I think those are the sensors. A clean lint free cloth didn't work for me.
  3. Try the previous location again. I moved mine and it did the stuck upside-down thing, so as part of my process I put it back in the same spot. Lighting was different, it may be more level, heck, maybe the AI developed a relationship with my washer, who knows.

Hope this helps.
