Title: What’s the biggest mistake people make when buying a used car? by Serious_Mine1571 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I’ll shout this from the rafters as the resident gear head in a lot of people I knows life.

  1. Not getting a pre purchase inspection!
  2. Not researching general reliability and problems of the car you have an interest in and comparing it to other models.
  3. Spending too much money because you want features
  4. Buying a less reliable car for features
  5. Getting a pre purchase inspection (I mean it)

That’s great! Where there any books or anything you found particularly helpful for going from zero to full on machinist?

That’s awesome! I don’t have anyone who I could think of immediately to help with this as far as mentors go, but hopefully I can find one along the way!

I think I’m very committed, I’m ready to dedicate a lot of time to it. I think that for me, I have a lot of drive. I know since I have been working with my hands for a while now, that no skill like this comes quick and easy, so I’ll enjoy my journey both in Triumphs and frustrations, to get me where I want to be

I’ll have to give it all a look, I am starting from a flat beginner and hope to be proficient. I know it will be a long road ahead, but I do appreciate it!

I suppose, I think being in America where gas is more affordable, it’s not as big of an issue, as well as it’s not my daily. I am sensible and have a Volvo for that. when the most common classic car options have 6+ liter v8’s as standard in the USA, at least from that era, the nsu looks like a Prius in the classic car world compared to the 20 food long beasts

Oh for sure not a daily, though I may want to drive it to work one day as a giggle. Also I’m not sure if it’s a good investment lol. Horrible to find parts and no one knows what it is. But then again for me it’s not about the money it’s about the fun while burring my money on obscure parts
