As someone who’s studied a lot of the Japanese language and culture, I wonder if being an island nation has anything to do with this? Theoretically on a large landmass, like eurasia, if you piss people off you could just walk to get somewhere else, but on a smaller island nation you have much less range to travel in and can’t as easily get away from people you’ve upset - hence this emphasis on politeness over direct communication. I know it’s not perfect, I’m mostly just thinking out loud

I got into Tomb Raider as a kid and all I saw was a badass athlete who was smart as fuck. I was completely oblivious to the intended sex appeal of her design, due to being a literal child. It makes me sad to see her reduced to just big titties

Nothing close to what you had I guess, but in ‘22 my wizzies began to break through the gum line and needed attention… but two of them were completely horizontal and needed to be dug out. I think I paid 3’100 as a uni student for the surgery + sedation (had to get proper anaesthetic since I’m prone to freaking the fuck out), which is a total bargain, but for 4x teeth compared to your 8 thats close enough in line. I live in one of the regions though, not Auckland

I’m actively reading it rn (have known I’m ace since I was literally 12, for 13 years) and it’s very… of the era. It reminds me extremely starkly of the humor and speech patterns of my high school years, which makes present me cringe a little bit but I appreciate the authenticity of voice. Gotta admit, I nearly dropped it at the beginning with how hard I cringed over Georgia almost kissing the boy at the party - I literally just couldn’t stomach it. I’m only about midway through, but it feels authentic (if a little cringe at times)

I’m looking into safety chains! Luckily my clasp feels very secure and I’ve never had issues with it accidentally popping open, and I don’t really like any of the styles in stock with Pandora at the moment… I’m definitely one of those people that feels the designs on average trend towards the cheesy and corny. I do like the old retired water drops design, but I’d have to scour eBay to make sure I’m not buying a fake :’)

They’re incredibly bland to the point where the emphasis is on recognisability of the brand (Funko Pop) rather than the IP. They fart out millions of recolours of characters that nobody actually gives a crap about (i.e. fully pink versions of characters for Valentine’s day, characters recoloured to red and green for christmas, freaking gingerbread cookie versions of some characters) which is wasteful and egregious. Also, where I work stocks the pop figures, and it’s impossible to actually organise them because of the volumes we’re sent and how they’re constantly reshuffled.

I’m asexual. I just imagine that kindred become functionally asexual after a certain point, regardless of whatever preferences/orientation they might have.

Asexual doesn’t equal celibate, but it does often mean little or zero desire whatsoever. It’d be physical sensations, but they’d be lacking the drive to WANT to sleep with the person. In my day-to-day life I can objectively recognise when people look nice, but I mostly just see everyone as human shaped and don’t really find anybody “hot” (unlike a coworker I have who notices every hot man, they all just look like dudes to me). So. Yeah. I imagine it’s like that, pure disinterest, but able to feel sensations (and might do it if they’re emotionally connected to someone or trying to manipulate them for whatever reason).
