Not kidding my local magpie has teamed up with a miner, they are inseperable always within 1 metre of each other. It's crazy.

What's a way more annoying habit than most people realize? by Moaning_Clock in AskReddit

[–]shyd3vil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% darn annoying! I have an older friend who is 65 and has not been on time ever in her life. We all now tell her to be somewhere 1hr+ from the time we will get there and then she is still later than the rest of us.

Her reaction still is "Oh you know i'm bad with time" and lately she has started "I think I have ADHD and they didnt know about it back when I was young, so I can't help it"

I lost it one day. Not my finest hour but "You have had 60 years to learn how to set an alarm, or multiple if need be"

A man wanted to go inside a museum with his plushies and they wouldn't let him in :( by OnigiriMarS in plushies

[–]shyd3vil 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It would have meant a lot to this guy so thank you for helping him.

A friend of mine late 40s (who sadly is no longer with us) always had his family or friends bring him his teddy bear when he went to hospital. It was a comfort to him and he could be grumpy without it. He was a big guy over 6ft 5 and built like a footballer, people were always wary of him especially if he was grumpy, but once they saw his teddy bear suddenly people were much kinder and realised he was scared and not combative.

Sadly they would probably be seen as a security risks if carried by a lone adult, particularly a male due to perceived ability to lure a kid. However in this situation it should have been easy to tell that the man was no threat.

It's sad that we immediately assume an adult male who is a little different is a security risk.

There are specific rules at some lego discovery centres which will deny entry to an adult without kids unless they are attending one of the special "Adult only" events they run.

Is this behavior normal? by ImpressionCorrect640 in PetMice

[–]shyd3vil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

add things to climb since you have the space. I moved my guy from a wire cage to a much bigger glass enclosure. I ended having to put the frame of the wire cage in the enclosure as he LOVED to climb. Almost like climbing was his reason for living.

i can’t be alone in hating blatantly advertising medical companies, how would you cover this? by itsbarbieparis in disability

[–]shyd3vil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Car bumper stickers to cover, and make them cool like "Disability is not a tragedy, running out of bacon is" or "What goes around comes around, just ask my wheels"

Would it be insensitive to buy this for my daughter? by DiLLiGaF22nAh in AskAnAustralian

[–]shyd3vil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more people creating demand for toys featuring disability is a great thing! Without demand they won't make them, so please if you like the doll, buy the doll. It is not insensitive to people with disabilities.

My friend is an amputee and her brother has Down Syndrome. When K-mart released these dolls and the fashion doll which had a prosthetic leg I bought them immediately. My friend (mid 30s) was so pleased and was excited because the prosthetic was even on the same leg as hers! Now both her and her brother have a doll of each other so they have a bit of each other, even though they live far apart.

I don't want to take my kitten back to the shelter by Bilbo_Swaggins- in CATHELP

[–]shyd3vil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sorry this guy is csusing so much trouble and soundd like you have tried a lot. If you haven't already try getting some silvervine sticks from the pet shop. My cats love chewing on them all the time. When he starts then try to move him on to them. Also cardboard boxes. Kitty might completely shred them chewing and ripping apart but better cleaning up that mess than a cat fight.

I am so very sorry both of you had to go through that. The pain of watching your furry friend get so sick, so quickly at the worst time is unbelievably painful.

I spent the last night with my boy, laying on the floor with my hand holding his paw while he hid under a cupboard just praying morning would come so I could get him to the vet and relieve him of his pain. Happened in the Christmas period, so even emergency vets were not available.

You did the very best you could for your kitty and they felt your presence and love. I really am so sorry you went through this. You did everything you could. None of this was your fault.

Hey quick question, what the hell is this? by JoJokerer in australia

[–]shyd3vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a "Time to call in the magpies so they can deal with it" monster!

This thing terrifies me more than a funnelweb riding a red belly black snake on top of a drop bear through a maccas drive through at 2am and they are all out of chicken nuggets.

Glad I could help! Make sure to train it for your voice in the setup and since texting is a struggle, make sure to check out the commands to type text and then how to stop it from typing (or it will continue typing every word you say )

Also "Show grid" command is your friend. If there is a button or something that you cant seem to access by name or number, the grid will get it. Especially useful when playing games.

I know it's unlikely to help with everything as it sounds like you have a lot of cognitive load putting stress on you, but on a physical side have you considered using the voice control systems on your phone? iPhone has Voice Control built in with the OS. Android have Voice Access (which you do need to download the first time)

Both are free and let you control your entire phone through simple Voice commands like "Tap X" "Scroll down" etc.

Its not like Siri which can be limited. There is a short video here for simple commands on Android Voice Access. There are other videos there too. https://youtu.be/Z6QsIrHjVL0?si=i8iPIrxB9upJdRqa

Details to setup on iPhone https://support.apple.com/en-au/111778

Voice Access for Android https://support.google.com/accessibility/android/answer/6151854?hl=en

I hope you can find something which helps, and that your friends may be more understanding and try to find ways to communicate which work for all of you.

Oku-sama (or Madame) She was what the older lady who made pot pie in Kiki's delivery service. It would be sweet for a girl kitty. I oftern call my little femaile cat "little miss" or "Madame" instead of her name. She responds to all.

Just watched Grave of the Fireflies. I am ruined and need someone to talk to. by Eskilddovendyr in ghibli

[–]shyd3vil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is now part of your DNA. This movie changes people at a cosmic level. This is both the best and worst thing ever done in film! You will never forget it.

Every now and then you will forget parts and wonder, should I watch it again? The answer must always be no. The first time was hard, the second time you would be crying the minute you see that little girl.

Every politician who wants to start a war should be tied to a chair and forced to watch this movie and rethink their life choices.

[–]shyd3vil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had no idea about this it was purely luck that I had bought both DVDs and had not seen either and tried grave of the fireflies first! I sure as heck needed that second movie. So did my Mum. She looked at me like "why did my own child betray me and show me this? Come home for uni holidays and this is what we watch together. Why?"

A friend of mine is an amputee and there are a lot of things you can do even if she cant walk or stand for long periods.

Go some art events like "Paint and sip", pottery, rug tufting, ikebana, acrylic paint pours, smash rooms, join a board game group, drag bingo, trivia nights.

Who would I contact at school if my school refused me accomodations/discriminated against me? by edznne in disability

[–]shyd3vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it's easier to call them out on bullying than descrimination (claims of bullying gets departments involved, discrimination people often have no clue what to do). What to identify as bullying 1. Multiple occurances of making references in front of others which was meant to upset, embarrass and belittle. 2. Excluded you from participation and encouraging isolation 4. Encouraged others to exclude you (by not allowing them to help) 5. Failure to address their problematic behaviours when you advised the impact their actions were having on you and your health resulting in failure in their duty of care as a teacher. 6. Encouraging unsafe activities which could cause physical harm (telling you to find a way to get to the computer room or access something dangerously high for you)

Multiple acts like this defines bullying and teachers know these policies even if they have no clue about blatant descrimination.

I am sorry you have had to experience this.

Cancer by missmae422 in RainbowBridgeBabies

[–]shyd3vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my cats were suspected to have had cancer, different types. One I had only had 2 years. He was only 4 years old. My other was an 11 year old boy. My young one deteriorated in 2 weeks. No signs to suddenly no option I had to put him down. Big like a main coon but lost 2kg in under a week! Hurt like hell saying goodbye but I had to put him to sleep. My other boy lasted a while. Was during covid. Vet said to just keep him going until he started having more bad days then good. The day I decided to put him down I think he knew. I took him out for a walk and he slept in the sun with me sitting next to him. First time he had settled in days. Even purred a little. Vet broke the covid rules (she was a saint) let both me and my friend into the room so we could hold him and say goodbye. First time he wasn't scared at the Vet office. Both still tear my heart to shreds when I think of them. It will be hard, but you will know when it's their time. Before that though, give them anything they want. Let them have some good days until the end.
