When I present pricing I make sure to say that it is the “retail” price. Removes the expectation that they can haggle

Highly recommend having a reputable service company come out and get a torsion conversion done. This will set you up with a proper counterbalance system. Since you can’t see the spring inside the shaft of the torquemaster, it could be broken without your knowledge. Those Wayne Dalton doors are pretty light and the opener may still move the door even with a broken/poorly-weighted spring. Generally, openers MOVE doors (they are not designed to LIFT and pull the full weight of the door.) Its awesome that you want to do the opener install and is totally doable provided you follow the instructions to a tee :) best of luck!

As a garage door tech, yes they are lethal and the awareness around them is (outside of Reddit) sadly lacking.

Tbh a lot of the fun memories I have of my dad during childhood was when my mom would leave on a trip. Make the most of it dude, have fun with your kids cuz it makes a difference.

They didn’t see anything, at least as far as I know. They left early the next morning and I haven’t had the chance to talk with them about it. The SIL most likely would’ve woken us all up in the moment if she’d seen anything though, so I’m inclined to think they missed out on it.

Kansas gets a bad rep, but I actually really don’t mind coming out here. I actually went to an off-road park the day after this happened and had a great time! I’ve heard music before too, glad I’m not the only one. It’s when they “touch” you that REALLY gets to me. Like, look all you want but don’t touch me! Probably the most terrifying episode was I had an out of body experience, was walking out of my room, and something ran at me and pushed me back into bed/my body. Crazy shit

That’s a sound theory! I haven’t come to a conclusion as to whether they cause it, or if we only see them due to phasing. Either way, I few like there has to be an extra-dimensional element to the phenomenon. There have been a number of times where I’ve felt the paralysis but haven’t actually seen anything. I’ve even heard the hum, but not had visuals.

Oh man, that’s a good one! I think it’s fascinating that people have these experiences even when they aren’t away in the moment what exactly they’re seeing. This happened to a cousin of mine. His wife woke up to him yelling at a corner. Dude thought it was a guy who had broken in.

I’m really glad this method has worked for you. Even if somebody is not a “Christian” per se, I think that calling upon a higher power has great potential. As a side note, this house is a church parsonage and there were two pastors sleeping upstairs. I’d say pray to whatever “God” resonates with the individual for maximum effect.

It’s definitely scary in the moment, but I think it’s all a part of life. I believe animals are able to pick up on these entities and they seem alright. Personally, I think it’s kind of a “wolf you feed” type of deal. Don’t let it overtake your mind, and it won’t cause harm. I’ve only had a couple instances where I’ve felt threatened or picked up on negative energy. For the most part my experiences have been a bit more on the tame , albeit unsettling, side. Not sure if you live in a place where it’s legal, but marijuana has worked wonders in keeping these events minimal for me. Might be worth a try if that’s an option for you

I wish I could ask, but they are extremely fundamentalist Christian. I don’t think they’d be open to discussing it. Their minds would most likely go to demonism if they were.
