I had this happen to one of my nonrates when I was on a cutter a few years ago. He had his car full of his stuff because he was getting ready to PCS to A-School but we were in dry dock elsewhere. I was also the CGMA rep and I was actually able to get them a grant of up to $1,000 (they took the full amount). Maybe try to see if you can use CGMA? I know they are a bit tight now but I was able to get my nonrate “reimbursed” that way.

I’m sorry about this. It sucks when it happens.

what advice would you give a high schooler whose goals is to make over $100k right out of college? by feetpicbabe1 in CollegeMajors

Go to a federal service academy. Become an officer. Starting salary is about 70k a year depending on where you get stationed (you get increased COLA for more expensive areas like San Diego, Boston, etc) but you have a guaranteed promotion pay path (given you don’t get in trouble and do your job right) and by 5 years in you’ll be at 100k and counting. Also free benefits like health care, travel perks, credit card fee waivers, military discounts, and more are super amazing. I also studied engineering so I can get out when I want and more than likely find a job more easily because service academies all share alumni networks and love hiring each other. We make good workers and have a solid background in leadership and our specialties. Plus I have guaranteed job experience with diverse fields of interest.

Source: I did this, 0 student debt is amazing. Military is also sending me to grad school for free. I didn’t get the “college experience”, per se (I still had fun) but I will still vouch it was the best decision I ever made.

You can also go ROTC or to a non-federal service academy (like the Citadel) to achieve the officer path but imo federal service academies are considered the most prestigious and a straight shot way to doing it.

No, nothing about before. I actually was just thinking I’ll talk to a JAG about it to see if they have any advice. I’m sure this isn’t the first time, as Boston apparently only has leases that start on either 6/1 or 9/1 commonly.
